Our secret may be out.

I don't know if it is me or what but I have sure been noticing alot more Nomads around the NW lately.

I went to the beach today and saw 3 different ones headed in different directions in about a 10 minute span. I also saw 2 on my way back from my St Helens ride with Netnorske and Ballast... and a few last week too.

Of course they are never parked in a parking lot where I can give them info on KawaNow...that would be too easy.

This is many more than I saw last summer.

I wonder if buyers are just getting smarter with their purchases in this economy? Or it is just a weird phenomenon?

Our secret may be out.

I'm seeing a few more myself. I think it is the fact that the roads are less congested with cars and more people are out on their bikes.

schoeney, I think you're correct in your findings. I've seen a lot more Nomads up here on Canada's west coast. I seem to see one or two almost every other day or so.
This is off the subject a bit but has to do with other Nomad riders. A while back, before Custer, I mentioned in a post that I rode up beside another Nomad, here in Langley. BC.....in my neighborhood. I pulled the guy over and we had a nice chat and compared and admired each others Nomad. I gave him a KawaNOW card and encouraged him to visit the site. Any way we said our good byes never expecting to see the "older" fellow again.
Well,... Brian {"midge"} and I took a run Friday, from our cabins in Maple falls, up to Winthrop on the #20 hwy.. on the way back down heading home we stopped to take a few photos and stretch, when along came a Nomad pulling into the rest area. He was heading up to Winthrop. Well as you've probably guessed it was the same fellow who I pulled off the road near my home a few months back. Both of us were surprised. He was quick to ask about the Custer rally and how the ride there and back was. etc. etc. etc., it turns out he was looking at the card I gave him, that very morning and said he should have a look at the site. Any way it is a small world isn't it. And there are more and more Nomads on the road.

Our secret may be out.

We have recently taken two long bike trips across a few states and were surprised at how many Nomads we ran across!!!

Parking lots are not the natural habitat of Nomads, that would be the "other" brand
[Brand name intentiaonally left out so we don't hurt their owner's feelings]

Our secret may be out.

I seen one yesterday going by on the way to work, they are still far and few between around here. I was on a ride Saturday with about a hundred other bikes, and I was the only Nomad also. It must have stood out, because I won the show and shine, without even realizing I was entered in it.

Our secret may be out.

I am begining to see them more often too. Sunday before last, while eatting lunch out, I shared a table with a solo rider. He was in his 70's but fit, and still works as a heavey equipment driver.

I sent him a link to here, but he hasn't shown up to post so far as I know.

I was at the eattery first with my wife, seated on a outdoor deck, over looking New Found Lake.

So when this ride showed up I knew he was on a Nomad instantly, and he stopped to look my bike over. When he entered the deck we were first too, so I offered a seat and mantioned I thought he was gonna pee on my ft tire... he spent a few moments looking over the ft end on my bike, and I took as he was looking at the new dunlop there, but he was really looking over the Desert Dawgs I have on.

he wanted some but the dealer told him they were not made for a 1600, and only the 1500.

I fixed that idea, as mine are about all that is left of my 1500. They were not on the bike when it was stolen.

Our secret may be out.

When I was in Oklahoma this past weekend, I ran into two Nomads at Robber's Cave State Park. I approached the owners and in striking up a conversation asked if they knew of KawaNOW.

They didn't have a clue. One of the owners even said he didn't need any help with his Nomad. So, I told them thanks and walked off. How much you want to bet he'll be joining KawaNOW within a year? It'll be about the time he needs help with an issue.

That's funny Trip. I didn't "need" any help with my Nomad either. It wasn't until I joined KawaNOW and started getting ideas for mods from other members that I needed help in getting them done correctly.
Sounds like that guy just hasn't gotten the bug for bling and mods yet. He will come around, they all come around.

Admitting you need help is the first step in the KawaNOW 12 step program.

Our secret may be out.

I've wondered about this myself. Before I bought my Nomad, when I was looking at different bikes. I googled "Kawasaki Nomad" looking for a site like this and my decision to buy was based in no small part on what I read here. Conversely, what I read on some other sites convinced me I didn't want to buy certain other bikes. It just seemed to make sense to check things out on the Internet since it is a readily available source of information.

So for these people who have never heard of KawaNOW, do they not have internet access? Maybe they just don't care to "join" things? Does it not occur to them to research a major purchase? Are they "old school" types who aren't skilled in using google? They must live in a vacuum or something.

It just makes me curious why so many people have no clue about us. I guess that might be the $64,000 question?

Our secret may be out.

I researched the net for months before I bought my bike, I finally decided it was going to be a Nomad and then it took about 4-5 months before I found the right one. I was close to getting a new Yamaha Venture, the dealer here had two in stock and they were really priced well. The only reason I didn't get one was the speedometer. I didn't like the look of it, it looked like it was off a 64 Pontiac.
One day when I turned on my pc there was the bike I was after, made a couple calls and emails and had it shipped to me here. Ive never regretted the purchase or looked back.

You did the right thing Trip. Sounds to me as if he hasn't yet recognized or admitted that he has a Nomad addiction!
He has to Want help before he'll seek it.
