2 Nomads spotted today!

Took a quick 250 round trip up to the Blue Ridge Parkway to eat dinner at a little diner in Fancy Gap VA (Lake View Restaurant...it's really good)

So about half way up I look over at a fuel stop in the small town of Danbury NC and see about 10 bikes and on the end is a new red/tan 1700 Nomad. I whipped in there and was told it belonged to one of their buddies in the store. He soon came out and said he had owned the bike about 3 weeks now and was very pleased with it as was his wife who was with him. His only disappointment was the lack of accessories. I told him about the site and what I could remember about anything those with new 1700's had said including the chrome covers from the 1600 fitting the passenger floorboards of the 1700's. He seemed very interesting in that and I hope he will show up on the site soon.

So then I get to the BRP and pull over at a store in Fancy Gap and lo and behold...there's a beautiful black Nomad sitting there with a rider just walking up to it.....he's yells out "NICE BIKE" which I return "Yours is pretty sharp too".....so he and his wife and me and mine have a nice little conversation. They were from Ohio and he was interested in the open filter on the right and his wife is now sure that they will be going by AutoZone as soon as they get home now :) :) I told him how and why I hated Ohio deer also :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/ ......I am terrible with name's and forgot their's but maybe my wife will remember.....Anyway they are all now aware of KawaNOW and I told them stories of the 58 Nomads coming together in Custer SD and how nice that looked.

Hopefully we will see them on here soon learning more about their bikes.

.....so do I get my recruiting badge now ??? ???

That pretty cool Todd, I spotted a new 1700 when I was in Ny a couple weeks ago. I was hoping to catch up to him and say hi but he got off the highway just before I caught up to him. Last night I was at a local bike night near here and there was a bike almost identical to mine there, we chatted for a bit and his bike was within 300miles of the same mileage on the odometer and his name was Steve also. Quite a coincidence.

The most simplist (is that a word ??? )

Spectre cloth/oiled 9" filter on the right side...can get it at most any AutoZone for about $25 - $30 bucks. Just need a little longer bolt than the stock also. Disconnected the ISCs and taped off the positive wire leads...they are still physically there in case I need to go back stock real quick for some reason...and because if I take them out and store them in the garage I may never see them again.

Nice job, Todd! I have yet to see an 09 on the road up here, but hopefully will get to speak to an owner soon. Good job with the recruiting!
