Very nice looking V2K bigjohn......as far as we're concerned, you need to stay in KawaNOW as an enthusiast.

In the future, I'm going to try and get Kawasaki's attention about possibly building a Nomad 2000. It's been discussed and asked about before.

I'd like to see a Nomad with the 2000 engine, hard bags, engine guards, front batwing fairing and trunk with all the electronics, shaft drive and 6 gallon fuel tank. Maybe call it the Nomad 2000 LT.

One was a salesman at the dealership. BOTH told me that they did not really notice a difference in power or performance between the two. The non-salesman said (at his size) he did notice a difference in the weight and balance. I was wrestling with the idea of going big motor with the Vulcan 2000 and adding the accessories I wanted or buying a new Nomad. The money differences did not play a factor. Both told me that the Nomad 1600 was the way to go based on the type of riding I wanted to do. I am looking forward to your report after you've had the chance to ride your Vulcan 2000 for a few thousand miles.
I don't want to say that you bought the wrong bike or anything. I really like the Nomads, and when you buy a VN2000 you don't get anything like the equipment a Nomad has.

But if somebody tells you "they did not really notice a difference in power or performance between the two" they are either BS-ing you or they never got up enough guts to really open the throttle.

This is my friend's VN2000. I've done a bit of work on this bike for him, and I've ridden it. Hard. True it does have pipes and a filter and a PC-III, but even stock it will soundly spank any Nomad that doesn't have forced induction. Hopped up even a little there is no comparison. Oh, my Nomad will spring of the line right with it for about 1/2 a second, but after that it'll just smoke me down the road, and when I run out of steam about 110 MPH, that 2000 is still pulling like a freight train.

After putting a 205 car tire on the back, I was still able to light it up on a good stiff shift to second gear.

Trip,
I'd love to see that! I'm sure that would be a beauty of a bike (Big John, once you put one of those tail pipes on the left, she'll look great--just kidding.). Hopefully MawKaw will take notice and see what the people want and when they see the money they can make, they'll jump behind it.

You know, I was seriously considering the Vision. Loved the test ride, it has plenty of power and all of the amenities that I would like to have. But, it also has that whopper of a price tag that I just can't get my heart around.

For about 1/2 the delta between a lightly used V2K and the cost of a new Vision Tour, I can add most of the aminities that is on the Vision, and still have change. Plus, it is still a Kawasaki. Heck, I've had four Kawai's so far. Might has well make it five.

No doubt about it, I'll stick around here. Even if only as an enthusiast.

You have just described the bike that I've hammered every dealer that I've met about. A V2KNomad. Even without the batwing. Just a nice, big hunken windshield would suit me just fine. Retro looking hardbags and a trunk option.

Please, please don't try and sell me a $1,000 sterio/intercom/CD changer. Go look at eithe the J&M or Autocom approaches. Intercom/MP3 Player/cell phone/optional AM/FM radio input. Output to either headsets (prefered) or optional to a powered speaker system. Heck, the Japaniese are masters at miniturization and systems intigration, why can't they give us a simple to use, cost effective audio system for a motorcycle?

Other nice things, lowers to suit, gel seats, optional seat/grip heaters. Chrome dodads. Floor boards front and rear and last but no least, enough gas to get from here to the other side of the state without refueling. Is that too much to ask?

If MaKaw ever wants to hold a users input meeting, I'll crawl on the back of my Kawasaki and ride there just to participate.

I'm afraid the truth is that they're just not selling very many VN2k's, and making an even more expensive one with touring accessories wouldn't make them easier to sell. For every $13,000 bike they sell they're probably selling four or five $6000 bikes.

Congrats BigJohn! It's a mighty hell of a bike!

Got my self a brand new Diamond Black V2K Classic 3 months ago, I loved my Nomad but after a test ride I can't resist the huge pulling power of the V2K. In the passed months I ad some nice mods and from the front she really gets the looks of the original Nad!

Get a very fair price for my Nomad when I traded in. Glad to hear that you guy's don't hate members that makes the move to a V2K, I please will be a member of Kawanow!!!!!!!! (Trip I hope I can stay?)

So far I ad the following mods:
Original windscreen of the 1500 Nomad with stock lowers.
F&S Lightbar with spotlights from a 1600 Classic
V&H Powershots (man oh man I love that sound!!!)
TFI fuel processor
Head and spotlight visors
Chrome radiator cover (original cover chromed)

So, below some pic's of my baby

Greetz from a proud member!

I spoke to a local dealer the other day & he said that the banks have virtually stopped financing used bikes due to the credit crisis here in California. This was when we were shopping for Anita's Honda.

John,

I am a little confused....did you end up buying the 2000 or did you cancel that when the Nomad sale fell through?
