I can't believe how expensive things are in Canada. Guess we are pretty lucky here in the states.

Pretty soon we will have national health care for everyone. Won't that be fun sitting in the doctors office for hours on end cause all the people who didn't have insurance are now running to the doctor for every little ache and pain or runny nose. :(" title="" border="0"/>

If its not a serious illness you will wait for hours, if you go in with a serious problem, eg, heart attack etc, you get looked after immediately. I know that when I have had to go to emergency there is always a few people there waiting that have pretty minor ailments. But they will get looked after.

Need tips for riding into Canada
Planning on entering at port huron then drifting toward lake erie and kinda following it then swing up to Niagra, see it then exiting inyo New York[/quote] Did just that last july only entered at Niagara and exited at Port Huron. Only tolls we had to pay were for bridges. Didn't have any trouble with money except at a gas station close to Port Huron, (don't remember the name of the town) Our credit cards wouldn't work and we had spent all our Canadian cash and they ripped us off because we paid with US money. I t was quite a bit more than the exchange rate. If you swing south at London there's some nice riding roads close to the lake. Have a good trip. |

I love riding in BC and Alberta. I always use my credit card to eliminate exchange hassles. Call your card company ahead to let them know you are traveling abroad. Also, it's a good idea not to have any outstanding warrants when you cross the border .

Be prepared for very expensive prices on everything...... We went 3 years ago, and had no trouble getting in, but, now, I hear you have to have a passport.

Several years ago I had a soft tissue infection and was told to go immediately to the emergency room by the urgent care facility where I initially went for treatment. When I got to the ER, I had a 104° fever and sat in the waiting room for 9 1/2 hours before they called my name. I ended up spending 3 days in the hospital on i.v. antibiotics.

Need tips for riding into Canada
Scott, it depends on which ER you go to here. The one in Rome,NY is always full of snot nosed kids and people with colds , upset stomachs or head aches.
You wait for hours. The one in Oneida,NY is pretty much empty when ever I have gone there. No I don't go for colds or upset stomach or head aches. Now seeing as this a thread that was started last year, our trip to Canada is over. It was a great time. There was never an exchange rate on anything it was always treated as par. Some of the Canadians at the Regional Rally in Lake George NY told us to watch our speed as the police like to write tickets up there for going even a little over the limit. Well, after being almost run over from behind a few times while going the speed limit we started keeping up with traffic. That took 10 to 20 miles over the limit. Thanks for the advice , you know who you are. Brad, you are welcome for this post. Now go to work. ;)
