Mailed another letter today. Simply put I told them the first reply to my question was nothing more than a generic answer made by someone with the I.Q. of a carrott and I would appreciate hearing from someone with a basic knowledge of motorcycles. We'll see what happens.

Unfortunately I believe most factory rep's are full of it! There may be one or two that have a clue but they are not alllowed to expose their smarts! I had an output bearing go bad on my 99 Drifter and it took 2 months to convince Kawi that it was a problem ( they said I could in no way know that the bearing was the problem )- except that I have access to a DLI Vibration Analyzer and after sending the factory the bearing tones and fault frequencies they finally conceeded that maybe I had a clue. Suprise suprise upon removal of suspect bearing and further sending it to NTN Bearing for analysis it was found to have a factory defect! Go figure - had I not had all of this technical backing I probably would still be waiting for Kawi to buck it up or had it repaired on my dime.
