Rear brake pads

Bikerdad and Zoom, I also have a 2000 Nomad 1500. We'll have to keep in touch with how things are going with them. I've had mine here in Ohio since last October and have put about 6000 miles on it. I just put a new rear Dunlop on it and am happy as a lark with the tire thusly. I bought a set of the TuffStop ceramic pads for the rear, but didn't have to put them on yet. I can let you guys know how the creamics work out if you're interested. While I have your attention, are your Nomads a bit "pursnickity" when going from 1st to 2nd gear?? Recently I've lightened up on the mph before shifting and it seems a bit better. I'm now shifting into 2nd at a low 22 mph or so. This Nomad only has 8500 miles on it, and the shifting does seem a bit "clunky" to me compared to my old Honda. RIDE ON...jim

Rear brake pads

Hi,
I found that changing to synthetic oil helped with the shifting. Also an aftermarket fuel processor helps. My bike would gasp and stumble for fuel, especially between 1st and 2nd.
Sometimes it would stall. A Dobeck (Techlusion) TFI cured that. The bike is much more "driveable" now. Not sure if your bike is fuel injected or carbed ?

Mine is a 2000 carbed model. No problems shifting. Seems smooth to me and I run Wal Mart 10W40 oil. Got right at 80,000 on it. My rear pads are the EBC FA85HH for the Nomad 1500. They are the same as origninal. The Dennis Kirk fitment guide must be correct.

I just removed my rear wheel tonight to have a new tire installed. I saw that my pads was about 1/4" thick and I ordered a set from motorcycle super store .com On there web site you can pick the year nomad you have and it will let you which pad to order I got ECB it is the same pad that is listed on gadgets fix it page. I paid $36.98 shipped and they are supposed to be here on Friday.

If your pads are 1/4" thick they aren't worn much. The new pads aren't any thicker.

New pads are only about 1/8" thick when installed. The rear and front right are the same part number.
