It's hard to say, Brad. I did the Cobra FI2000R first, then the intake, then several month later I did the exhaust. So it was a gradual process and any changes in performance were gradual as well. It runs great, as far as I'm concerned and it jumps when I crank the throttle. I know that doesn't answer your question, but I haven't ridden a stock Nomad in so long, I honestly couldn't tell you.

Tell ya what, you ride over here and I'll let you take my pride and joy down the road and you tell me if it seems faster or noisier than yours.

Yeah, I was maybe a little overzealous when I removed the idle air hoses. I am optimistic that Maricopa County gets EPA approval to ditch the mandatory emissions testing on bikes. ::)

Since mine is the legendary Green/Silver Nomad it already started out with an unfair speed advantage to the nortoriously well known slow Black Nomad!!

Springtime would be a good time for a meet in the middle with you, Bill, Dave and I and whoever else wants to go...

Register it here in Utah. Next to no motorcycle laws.

Thanks Cj. I figured that was how, but wanted to be sure. I am aware the steel turns back to tubing again.

So far when I have done these it has been with the idea to go back to stock on a whim. I don't trust state regs and epa much.

BD my bike has notable more power with V&H baggers, TFI, and the basic 9 inch set up, right side filter. No question it makes more power, and still mine gets better MPG's.

Also I like the less heat with no goat bladder, except on late Fall rides where than heat might be handy.

NH has state inspection , but I gave it up for lent a few years ago on bikes. I am just sick of the state fees going up each and every time. I consider it civil disobedience, since the bike would indeed pass the state test. err well almost, it might make a little too much noise maybe, but it ain't the only bike in the state making a little too much noise, and I have never had anyone upset yet.

BD you still got the ICS's in there? That is what made most of the noise, but they don't anymore

My hearing is far from good so I don't hear all these noises some of you guys do. Doc hears things I didn't know a man could hear, like the breather hose hissing.

I figure that hose make a slight noise but I sure can't hear it.

If you do the left side, it's just so it will look the same on both sides. The main effect of going to the 7" air cleaner is increased air flow first, and cosmetic appearance second. You will no longer have the functionality of the crossover tube, which is really what restricts the air flow in a stock setup.

I had a dummy 7" plate made for the left side for a balanced look. Then when I finally got rid of the crossover tube, I removed the dummy filter setup and added a decorative billet plate from Thunder Mfg.

so now my left side looks like this...

I'm also using a 7" plate with a fram filter (ca79, 2 3/4in.), only ten bucks for the filter. I took the solenoids out, reed valves are gone, attached the breather into the plate. Made extra mounts for the rear plate..just cause. Have cobra true duals and cobra tfi.

If things work out I'll go to 7" in the early summer.

mac I fixed my hissing crankcase breather by putting a filter on it which reduced it some what. Still got 9 inch K&N filters both sides for a match. Not sure if Im going to 7 inch set-up.

Oldbikers (Jim Hardin) is going to help me with the 9 inch setup like he has. I like the looks of the bigger cover. Plus, if my mileage is a little less the price of regular over premium might be offset, but looking forward to a little more oooomph!
