I believe Chuckster is now making a kit for the 1700's that does not use the stock cover.
I don't think it is on his website though. Login or Register to Remove Ads

I dropped chuckster a line inquiring about a 7" back plate for the right side. From other posts I have read, the cost of just that part may not be worth my trouble to fab up. the left side would just be a 7" dummy plate.

Ditch the left side altogether, including the crossover tube to the right side. Good way to lose a few pounds of unnecessary weight. Open up the right side and let the engine breathe.

yes, but at 110 for the plate, you may as well spring for the extra 60 and get the hardware, filter, and top cover

The 5 inch K&N filter by itself is probably $60.

About 4 months ago I purchased a BAC from Chuckster. It uses the stock covers but the air comes in on the right and not the left. You can remove the left or leave it on. The right side looks the same only open in the back. Really helps in the performance area but a bit more noise.

so I took the intake off of my VN1700 Nomad to have a look/see, and I notice that the throttle position sensor will be right smack in the way of any new back plate (at least I assume its the TPS), so I was wondering if the backplates for these utilize spacer blocks between the throttle body and the back plate.
Also if thats the case, considering the added +/- 1" of added thickness if anyone has a photo of what it looks like, BTW I am looking to do an open style (not using OEM cover) |
