Stock Windshield Replacement
Hello all
The previous owner of my 2005 Nomad took a dremal to the windshield cutting away 4 inches, making the windshield in my opinion useless. I have extreme buffeting in the helmet. I have tried angling the shield back however the problem still exists. So looking to replace the shield I see a few on ebay that advertise stock shields for sale, however they come in different sizes. I'm looking for some advice on just how big and wide a shield I should get. The sizes come in 15 inch, 21 inch and 23 inch Tall. Don't know if this matters but I'm 5'7. I replaced mine with a Clearview 19" with the recurve option. I don't like looking through the windshield, so this one shoots the wind up over my head without having to look through it. It's also about an inch wider. Check em out.

Not familiar with that brand, they are not OEM, but here is their website, you actually have a lot of choices for size.

You can have my 07 OEM one if you want it as long as you don't mind a few bugs and scratches. Just needs a good clean and polish. Just pay the shipping.

I bought mine from the site listed above. I bought the 15" 25" wide. This is the stock size, I believe, and it works great. I am 6'1"

I purchased my 2001 Nomad in April. Then replaced the stock windshield with a "Cee Baileys" windshield and love it. High quality at a price you can't beat. I'm 6'6" and ordered the +4" windshield and still adjusted the factory hardware all the way up. And yes I still look over the windshield, very little if any buffering now.
http://www.ceebaileys.com/kawasaki/vulcanws.html The only small negative is that these are made to order so you can't be in a rush. The website says "All orders are custom built, Please allow 9 - 14 working days for delivery" and they mean it. But you can't beat the quality at that price. |

I replaced mine 2 weeks ago with a Clearview 21" same height as factory and with the recurve. Works great.

You'll have to measure yourself to really know for sure.
I'm 6'1, and had to cut 2 inches of my Nomad windscreen to get it short enough. My dad is 6'2 and has his screen adjusted all the way up. Both of us had the top of the screen even with our nose (which is widely considered the "proper" height).

Thanks guys for all your advice, I"m going to go with a stock OEM shield that DShelly is kind enough to give me.
Another question anyone try the lowers that are found on the Gadget fix it page? The ones from Edmonds Enterprises or from Vernon Appenzeller? |
