Pushrod and Seal
Returned from a 3 week cycle ride last week, and a day or two after returning, noticed a oil leak after parking and returning to my bike, running down the kickstand. Found a similar Thread from July 2012 - Lower left side oil leak by Granpa10 on the forum here. Believe this is my problem.
Someone posted this link in that thread, which explains what to do and that also has pics: http://home.insightbb.com/~kpmh.010/...h-Rod-Seal.htm Seems pretty easy, so am going to go out and re-seat seal. Question I have is the Push Rod when putting the seal back on. I can't quite tell from the link, are you suppose to put the seal in FIRST, then the Push Rod? Or put it on the Push Rod, slide the Push Rod in first with the seal on it, then line up the seal and push it on? Wouldn't doing it this way also fix the problem of accidentally pushing the seal into the case? So, seal in first then Push Rod, on on the Push Rod and then seat the seal?

Closing out the thread. That was easy.
Left the Push Rod in, just reseated the seal around the rod, flush. Used a socket, backwards. Pretty damn easy, if it starts leaking once again, will just replace. The whole thing takes longer to put the spring back on the floorboard, then to replace or reseat.

Bull, I'd go ahead and order a replacement seal and keep it handy. CJ was asking if you used an adhesive. If not, the seal will pop out again. Maybe sooner than later.

Not sure what most use but something like permetex gasket maker come to mind as a good choice. You should clean off all traces of oil first.

Just cleaning the outside of the seal and the opening it seats in and a little adhesive would have fixed the problem. Most likely for good.

I had trouble with the push rod seal leaking. It didn't pop out, just continually leaked. Tried replacing the seal, it quit for a while, then started again. Finally searched another forum and found one person who had a similar problem. He replaced both the seal and the push rod because the rod was bent. I ordered the seal and rod, and checked the old push rod when I replaced it with the new. Sure enough, the old push rod was bent! Dunno how that happens. Replaced both the seal and rod and no more leak!

Had to re-seat mine today. Thanks for this thread!! It only took a short time to fix it, and I think the clutch is actually a little more responsive now.

Mine has popped out twice now. Both times I've used Permatex on the edge of the seal and the hole after I've cleaned them off. If/when it pops out again I'm going to replace the seal.
