Difficulty Getting the Oil Filter Off Nomad 1700

Just did my third oil change on my 2010 Nomad 1700 last night. The first time I changed the oil at 6300 miles (bought it used) I could not get the oil filter off, so I just left it. The second time I had to destroy it to get it off. I thought the dealer must have just put it on too tight. Last night I could not get it to turn using any of the cap wrenches that I have. I have a couple that were a good tight fit on the new filter, but when I tried them on the old filter (both are Kawasaki brand) I could not turn the filter. I guess I will go to a filter with a nut on it, but for now, any tips on removing the filter?

I went ahead and added the new oil because I needed to ride the bike to work today.

thanks
