A part laying in the crank case isn't much of a problem, as it just sits there pretty much. I have found counter shaft thrust washers and busted bolt head in these before on other bikes. I tend to think its a right side cover locator pin that fell out of the cover when being installed at some point before. it might be any other pin, and they look like roller bearings. The right side cover has 2 of these pins and on that side are 2 large oil drain back holes that go straight into the oil sump.
