Always check..........
This morning I went to change oil on my wifes Explorer, no big deal right, WRONG!!!!!!!!
After draining the oil, putting on a new filter I started it to check for leaks,--all OK. Then I drove it from my shop back to the garage, I had to drive to the end of the driveway to turn around. On the way back I noticed a strip of dark colored foreign substance on the drive. Thats right, oil. I stopped, saw the oil dripping from the filter area, removed the filter thinking it had sprung a leak, and the the gasket from the old filter fell to the ground. I don,t know why it didn't leak when I tested it after the oil change, but I am glad it sprung the leak when it did. All the oil was gone, 5 quarts, filled it back up, and everything seemed OK let it warm up good and still had good oil pressure. Moral of this story, "always check to be sure the old gasket comes off with the old filter" Terbear Login or Register to Remove Ads |
