Putting the Pin Back In the Driveshaft

I have disassembled the bike and removed the rear wheel and the swing arm. The needle bearings do not look at all dry at 17500 miles. But, the transmission end driveshaft splines look very dry. I am about to pull the driveshaft back while depressing that small pin. A question suddenly popped into my head.

HOW DOES THE PIN GO BACK IN?

Neither Gadget's or Mac's writeups mentions that. So before I pop it can someone fill me in?

No sweaty palms no not me :-/
