Ca emissions removal

My 07 has the Ca emissions control box (box wired in above the tool kit). Is there any benefit to leaving it alone or would I be better off in removing it? It'd be nice to have some more room for storage but I don't want to affect the way the machine runs or have future problems if I disconnect something important.
