Studs on a stock seat?
I've added saddlebag chaps, tank bib and windshield bag that are studded. The plain ones were...well just plain. I want to add a backrest, probably a Utopia(any opinions on that?) and want to go studded on all the seating. Has anyone added studs to a stock Nomad seat,or had it done? Would it be difficult and/or expensive to do? If I do it myself where can I buy the studs? I know we are a bunch of chrome addicts and I'm not the first to want to do this. ::) I'm just not sure how to start this project.

That's Nauga - free range Nauga's raised out West in the Nauga Ranch's of Montana. Pleather comes from New York City. A fine Nauga skin takes 2 - 3 years to mature before it can be used as a Nomad seat. Even then, only 1 out of 12 Nauga's are considered good enough for use on a Nomad! The others are sold on the market to other bike manufacturer's who do not have the High standard's Kawi has! Prime grain fed Nauga's are sold to Mustang to be hand crafted into Mustang Seat's & Backrests for Nomad and that's why they are so expensive!

Maybe some ultra liberal Hollyweird actor will step up to be a spokes person. And bring this issue the attention it deserves. :'( |

Studs on a stock seat?
Here is the link to Gadget's page for the seat mod.
I have been thinking of doing it myself. I just never put the bike down for enough time to do it. http://www.gadgetjq.com/harryseat.htm Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Utopia is a great backrest, but you will have to strip your passenger seat and then cut a hole for the backrest, then reassemble - it seems scary, but only takes about 20 minutes.
Studs can be had at Hobby Lobby or similar stores. Doc is right - strip it, insert studs (you will need a stud tool) and recover with a staple gun. Hope that helps - good luck and remember there are several kind of studs if you choose to do it yourself |

I heard to get the softest naugahyde, they keep the baby naugas in small cages, in the dark, and feed them a diet of only milk.

It seems like a good time to add studs if cover comes off anyway. Of course the rider seat will be done too. I just found that Mustang sells studs at 20 for $4.00,they are chromed brass so no rust. They also sell conchos. Where can I find a stud tool(no comments from the peanut gallery) :-[? The gadget method mentions using washers on the inside of seat cover, anyone have experiance to share about that? |
