Pegs, baffles, tires, etc. All seems mundane after hearing about Chuck...could have been anyone of us.

Been thinking alot about him and didn't ever talk to him or meet him. Just goes to show you even the most experienced of riders can get in an accident.

I read his blog....man he put on a ton of miles. He did what I want to do...travel the USA on my bike. I couldn't believe the picture he took of his speedo at 100+ mph. Not sure I want to do that but that took some skill and big cahoonies.

Most of us....even the ones that met Chuck wouldn't know him as well if it weren't for this website, thanks to Trip and all of you that make it work...we share a bond because of you.

Don't know any of you but hope to start meeting some of you.....ride safe.

I never met Chuck but when I was telling Cindy the news today there were tears in my eyes and I was choked up.
I have always said we are like family on this site even if we have never met in person.
From what I have learned of Chuck today I'm sure he would want us to carry on with the talk of pegs, baffles, tires, etc.
It is the sport he loved.

Yeah, it's a little tough to take care of the usual business when someone this well liked passes on.

I knew when I joined this forum that it was only a matter of time before something like this would happen. Unfortunately, I didn't expect it to come so soon and to such an experienced rider. I'm glad chuck could spend so much time doing something he loved. Live life to its fullest and cherrish every moment.

There have been a lot of tears today Tim. When I tried to tell my wife, Suzanne, about Chuck today, I was the same as you.

I joined this site to find information about these wonderful motorcycles. Look what all of you have done here. Be proud that you have been able to meet each other because of a large hunk of metal and some rubber that all of you love so much. I don't even own a Nad but yet all of you have welcomed me into your world. Even though I come from a place that would not accept you as a true biker.

I never had the honor of meeting Chuck. But as I watched the photos of him today, I saw a man that loved to ride, who loved to meet new people and make many friends. What a smile on that man's face! That smile touched many of you. The same way that many of you touch each other. So, allow his smile to warm your heart, allow his laughter to make you laugh, and remember. For we may all just walk thru each others lives for a brief moment, so stop and catch that moment.

I took the Nomad into work today. Before leaving the house I made sure the boards were down to show respect for a rider that I was never fortunate enough to meet. As I was going down the street, I checked the mirrors and saw a sport biker coming up on me fairly fast. They usually go around at a pretty good clip. The light changed to red and I looked over at a young rider as he pulled up beside me and nodded to be polite. Not really paying attention after what happened.

When the light changed I just started up slow and easy, my heart not really into it this morning. Several seconds later the sport bike had not accelerated away. Looking in the mirror to find out what happened I saw a truly class act for a rider. He had seen the boards and realized that an old rider does not leave them down by accident. He had pulled in behind me and hung several bike lengths back. It was very plain that he was not going to pass me for any reason.

As I turned toward work, he waited until he cleared the intersection before accelerating in true sport bike style. As my brain processed what happened, I realized the kind of respect he had shown for a fallen rider he didn't even know. It was a good thing I pulled into work by then, I went into my office and shut the door for a while.

I expect Chuck will be watching us from above.

Very well put, Mark.

To echo what Wolfman said, most biker websites have an area to honor and remember those who aren't riding with us any longer. It's a grim reminder of both the frailty of life and the inherent risks we face each time we go out on two wheels.

Since last evening, I have been doing a lot of reflecting and thinking about recent events, as I'm sure many of you have. It's a normal reaction to an abnormal situation.

I just want to say to all my friends here that for pete's sake, be extra careful out there. Pay extra attention to what's going on around you, stay focused and alert and don't let your guard down, even for a second. Nothing is worth risking your safety for. There are some circumstances in life we as humans simply can't control, but for those situations we can, make sure you control them and they don't control you.

Ride safe, my friends.
