Thanks. Dakota Digital makes excellent stuff. I have found too, there are many other suppliers that make devices to adjust the calibration of the speedometer.

Don't you people have a speedo dial on your bikes ? Always been good enough, for the Police to get agitated where i live.

I use a GPS mounted on the handlebars to give me accurate speed, and its transferable to my next bike

I use the GPS for navigation on the bike and in the car.
The accurate speedometer function is a bonus. |

I use a GPS for the accurate speed reading, and it's got so I don't feel safe (from tickets) without it. I set the cruise to the current LEO max (recently +5kph over the limit, formerly +10), and can then concentrate more on the danger other road users pose to my survival.

Thank fuck i live in the countryside. I am just getting the swing of winding the 3 pot motor up. All the police are around here, are looking to prosecute people on Facebook.

Well, intended helping people to have a accurate speedo to avoid tickets....
I can see my speedo fine on my Vaquero, on my Nomad, I have this to correct my speedo....I can see my dash on top of my tank better than try any mess with my phone, its too small besides I have my GPS telling my Sena where I need to go, my phone is in my fairing leather pocket....

I see that mate. But why do some bloke's just need to complicate things. Every speedo i ever had, worked just fine, on every bike i ever owned. Why fuck about, with what has worked for the last 100yrs or so ?

Cops here pop outta the woodwork here in the states, especially if your just a few miles over....the speed traps are bad, and is your going so and so speed, slowing down to so and so....if your speedo is off on your guessing and don't slow down to the speed in time...ticket time. And tickets here are expensive....
I belong to American Indian MC Club, so they look for a reason to stop me when my cut is on.... I'm a woman, I ride a big cruiser, I'm American Indian and I want a accurate speedo since my butt is in the sling. Anyone who rides/ownes bikes here in the states is on a watch list....

Here in the great midwest, a simple rule is "nine you're fine ten you're mine" meaning the officers, local or state patrol won't even look your way if you stay under ten miles over the speed limit. But, ten over, you're likely to have a roadside discussion. I used that guide for 45 years with little trouble.
Prior to the now very common electronic speedometers on motorcycles, most speedos registered about 10% higher shown speed than actual speed. It was an easy way to avoid getting too much speed on. Now that speedos are near to GPS derived speed, whe n your speedo shows "65" you best be careful about the "ten over" guideline. Like Peg said, it used to be 10k over and now is better to stay 5k (for you metric types) to avoid an officer's attention. That, and how you ride and look on your ride I feel has some influence on the officer's inclination to have a roadside talk with you.

andyvh1959....Agreed. And attitude towards the officer, is a major factor too. I have ridden away from several potential bookings, on account of being civilised, and respectful. Having a good looking bike helps too
