Shopping for a Nomad in Pa.

Howdy! Great forum, been lurking a while, found this forum via vulcanforums.com

I have a 800 Vulcan Classic and have been shopping for a used Nomad, wife's orders ;) Will be looking at a couple specimens next week, cash in hand, just in case.
Keep your fingers crossed for me as I hope to "join the club" soon :)

Welcome from Ohio. What part of PA? I know of a local dealer in Massillon, OH (near Canton OH) that I'd vouch for who has several.

I'm in NE Pa.
I'll have the cash Mon or Tues and am going to look at a 03 hopefully on tuesday that sounds like a good deal. This weekend I am going to hit the local dealers and see what they have as they do not keep their used inventory updated on their websites....
I'm limiting the budget to about 6 or 6.5 K, especially since I'm keeping the 800. I see a lot of deals out there unfortunately it seems like they are all 200 miles away, of course ;)

Here is my 800.

I'll be stopping at two-jacks (they have two locations here as they bought the former "Riders World".
And I have been thinking of going out to look at that green '99 at TPC. But I think I want to go newer/lower mileage, as the budget allows...

If you look at a 99, make sure to ask if the plastic oil gear (pog) has been replaced with a steel oil gear (sog).
There was a recall on them if they failed, but thats all over now.

Welcome Pa Vulcan. I, too, started with a 1996 Vulcan 800A that I still own. I recently purchased a 2001 Nomad 1500 with 18,000 miles and a few goodies for 4K. I am very pleased with the ride and look of the Nomad. You will not be disappointed. Good luck with your search. Let us know of the outcome.

for 6 to 6.5 k you should be able to get a 05 or 06 I gave 6 for a 2006 almost 2 years ago. It did not have any extras on it just stock but it just had 9000 mile on it. May have to go a little farther than 200 mile I drove 350 one way to get mine

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2008-...item2ebb971f25 found this one on ebay

Rich,
Welcome to the forum, I needed help while on a trip in 2001, I was near
Wilkes-Barre on my way home and the guys at Two Jacks were awesome!
I have recommended them on many occasions over the years. If you go there
Please tell them I have never forgotten.
Gerry

There is a guy in Pa that I was going to buy from recently... Sadly I kinda backed out on him...

He has a 01 with 26K miles... This was one of his first emails to me.. I have pics and his number if you want to email me...

"
Nothing wrong with it - never had any trouble with it. Did all of my own oil/filter changes, has 1 year old front/rear tires and brake pads.

It is fuel injected (which is rather nice even for cold starts)
It does have risers - I would have to measure them for you though
It does have a windshield - another favorite part about this bike for me at least
Luggage rack worked perfectly on long trips as did the saddle bags (the storage was the reason I bought it in the first place.
Yes those are VH pipes with baffles - roars down the road.

I am in PA about 45 minutes from the PA/Maryland line. Feel free to give me a call if you would like to talk more."
