Clock & tripmeter reset @ starting?

Twice in the past week the clock & tripmeter have both reset when starting bike? Bike seems to start fine with a little delay. Is this something that can be remedied or just live with it? Anyone else experience this with their '05 Nomad?

Dying battery. I haven't had that issue however, from what I've read on this forum those symptoms points to that.

+1 on the battery. Same thing happened on my 1600 Classic. Charger no help. Replaced battery, problem went away never to return.

Not necessarily the battery. I had the same problem and CactusJack suggested I tighten everything. Found out my negative cable was not tight enough. The bike would start but sometimes when I hit the starter button nothing. The clock and tripometer would reset. Don't rush out and buy a battery as you might be wasting money. Of course if your battery is as old as your bike it might be time to replace. I would check connections first.

If you have the original battery in your 05, it most likely is the battery.

Don't know if battery is original or not. Purchased bike in April from 2nd owner. Only 12K on bike with no blems. I assumed (you know what that does) being 6 yrs old the battery would have been replaced at least once. Since it seems to start fine will try connections first. Thanks.

The original battery would probably last that long. Try the connections and then check the battery. If it is the original it is probably time for a new one.

I have had several oem batteries last 6-7 years. My 05 Nomad battery died after six years. You probably have the original battery. You can take the battery to any place that sells batteries and have it load tested which will let you know the condition good or bad.

Probably the batt, unless it has been maintained all it's life on a charger anytime the bike wasn't in use riding.

My 06 battery acts and reads like brand new still. I run a full time ON voltmeter, that is only off in winter, when the battery comes in and sits on the charger all winter too.

Id assume that its the original battery, as I got eight years out of mine, it had the exact same symptoms as yours did, after I replaced the battery, its never done it since.

I am expecting 8 + years of mine, but won't feel bad if I make 8.

Same thing here. I got 8years out of my OEM and my clock would reset once in awhile but the bike started fine. Decided not to take the chance so I bought a new Yuasa (same brand as OEM) at Battery Mart, all is well and no more resets.

My bike started doing that last year and it ended up being the battery. No problems since. So far. My battery was only 3+ years old. Garage kept the bike and I ride year around and have never used a battery tender.
