I like the Dunlops, a lot here use Avons, and Id avoid the Metzelers myself, havn't had good luck with the last couple tires.

Dunlops here too. 150/80/16. I get mine from Dennis Kirk with free shipping. I think they tack on a $5 charge for something.
Rear $82.99 right now, Front $91.99:

I have the Dunlop Elite 3 150-80-16 and purchased from Dennis Kirk. Don't recall exactly what I paid but they are as reasonable as anyone. If you look around online for a discount code you can find one and Dennis Kirk will send you a $10.00 gift card. I really like the Elite 3's.

I'm going to throw in a vote for Avon Cobras. They work great for me on my 1600.
I had E-3's and they were noisy as hell.
I had bridgestone and got lousy mileage.
I had Metzler and had a lot of cupping.

Another vote here for the Avon Cobra, great tire, but it is a radial...........

TC, I agree with you 100% on your other tire assessments.

What he said....

Have a new Avon Cobra sitting in the garage waiting to be put on. This will be my 2nd Avon.

Had good luck with Dunlop D404s. The 150/80-16 D404s wear well and are cost effective as Bobby mentioned. The D404 is made in Japan where quality is still important. The stock Bridgestone is not a very good tire - poor wear mileage and noisy.

The Dunlop D404's do wear very well, I installed the front tire 21,000 miles ago. It is due for replacement now, and I have a new tire already to go. Plus its one of the few choices that are available in a wide whitewall.

Flavor and I traded off bikes for some miles last week. His bike is a 07 1600, mine 06 1600, we share the same rear tires a Dunlop Sp5000.

My bike has a Dunlop mc 251 radial up front with 6,000 miles. His bike has a more worn out Avon Cobra, and it beats the hell out of my ft tire for traction.

My next ft tire will be a Avon Cobra. That's a fact! You have got only one choice IMO a Cobra.

I made my own balancer and use stick on weights. Others use Dyna beads and then thats it.

I bought the Michelin Commander with Dyna Beads and am tickled with the combo on there now. The tire was 90 some odd dollars but is as smooth as any I have rode on. It has 3k miles on it.
