Fairing arrived today

My Reckless fairing arrived today and all looks good. I am kind of wondering how to run the power to the radio though. Has anyone else cut a hole in the inner fairing for this?? If so, what did you use? I'll post some pictures as soon as the other stuff arrives. I picked up a pair of Infinity 6x9 Marine speakers and a Pyle deck with an aux port, SD slot and USB. It's 240 watts so it should be enough to power the speakers. It doesn't have a CD player in it, I didn't want to be carrying a bunch of CD's around.

Also thanks to all who posted their pics and experiences with the fairings, it's been a big help!

Bill

Fairing arrived today

For power to the fairing, I'm using a 4 pin trailer wiring connector, so that I can easily disconnect the wiring if I need to take the fairing off. I've got enough of a gap between the inner and outer fairing at the top of the headlight cut out, and I'm running the wires through there.

I don't have the wiring done on the bike yet, but the fairing is all wired up and ready to plug in.

Fairing arrived today

I'd just drill a hole and fit a rubber grommet to run the wiring through.

Fairing arrived today

I did like CJ just drilled a hole and used a rubber grommet, also used a trailer connector and added a 12 volt plug for cell phone etc. I also changed my radio and wired it to a constant hot wire I didn't like my running lights burning if I just happened to be stopped and wanted to play the radio. But you have to remember to turn it off!!!

Fairing arrived today

Just got my Reckless yesterday, so far so good! As someone said, I had to install spacers bewteen the fairing and mount brackets (right side) to center on the headlight. Speakers, 2@ 6'' fit the cutouts perfectly and are now mounted. Radio arrives today, will pre-fit, then off for paint. I plan to use a quick connector for easy removal, too. I installed a 12v fused lighter receptical for a compressor, etc. at the rear below the trunk attached to the trunk mounting plate. As for using a hot lead to power the radio, one could always install an in line switch. That way you could shut off power to the radio when away from the bike.

I thought about adding a switch as I was typing the earlier post. Great minds think alike
