Oil plug drip anyone?
Anyone use thread sealer on the oil plug? I have changed the drain plug and the washer and I am damn tired of that tiny drips I see on the ground after parked. I look under the bike and see this tiny drop of oil hanging from the drain plug like snot on a cold winter day. I hate for my bike to leave any oil especially around Harley's, they think I'm a Harley wanna be..

I would seal that one up and use the drain on the left side behind the side stand. It is harder to get to but drains the oil better and you can take out the oil strainer and clean it while you are at it.

IIWY I'd use teflon tape on the drain plug threads.

Teflon tape or pipe dope should fix it for you.

Oil plug drip anyone?
Mine drips but it's due for an oil change so I'll seal that up and use the strainer port from now on

My '05 has had numerous drains thur the standard plug and no drips at all even after reusing the crush washer over and over. never replaced it yet. last 2 changes I have went to the forbidden side plug with screen and I like it better although harder to get to. Telfon tape should fix you up.

Oil plug drip anyone?
Update. Found the problem. Sometime with the previous owner they probably stripped threads on the casing over tightening the drain plug. After I pulled the plug this time I looked at the crush washer and seen a line in it looking like a "J". I kinda had the idea immediately and put my little finger in the drain hole and sure enough out popped the end of the Heli-Coil insert. I don't understand why they would go through the trouble of drill the 12mm out to 14mm and add a heli-coil insert when they could have done what I did today and get a 14mm drain plug, which is kinda standard in automotive. Anyway thanks for the advice but it looks like I am all fixed.
