Im putting some spot lights on my bike. Im going by gadgets directions.ive got my relay hooked up got my wire ran to the head light bucket. Im not installing a switch. I think the blue with yellow stripe is the hot wire when the switch is on. SO why am i running my wire from my relay to a hot wire when ive hooked my relay strait to the battery. What wire do i run from the bucket to the spots. As you can see im thoroughly confused. I think ive done a good job of confusing myself so please help.

Okay, The direct 12v from the battery is what will provide the actual power to the lights. The blue/yellow is the circuit that controls the internal switch in the relay and opens or closes the circuit coming directly from the battery. The blue/yellow goes on-off with the ignition. The last piece of the puzzle is running a wire from terminal 87 to the positive wire for the lights. Grounding the negative wire from the lights will complete the circuit.

Bike wire codes:
Red = running lights Green = left signal Grey = right signal
Blue = brakes Blue/yellow = low beam
White and blue = unswitched (always on) Aux +
Black and yellow = Aux – ground
Relay:
30/51 is where you connect the power from +battery. This should have an in-line fuse.
85 is where you connect to ground (black/yellow inside the headlight
86 is connected to the trigger blue/yellow or red. I prefer red.
87 is connected to the + positive wire from the lightbar.

According to Hammer, your passing lights are tripped to be ON with low beam only. You used the b/y to trip the relay on.

It is possible to use large enough wire to match the load and run to a direct switch, and not use a relay, but then you have a manual system.

I am old enough to recall cars with no relay, and only 4 fuses.

...and when you had a flat, you had to chisel a new wheel from solid granite, right Mac?

???????. I think I would stick with the relay you already have. My preference is using the running light wire to kick the relay but either works. If Mac makes wheels, orders will come.
Can you chrome granite??

LOL.... Now yesterday was a different day and I just know I did something nobody here has ever done before and isn;'t likey to ever do at all.

I am the MAN!

yesterday my loving bride took me to see a man about a kids microscope. I have been meaning to ask for one of them around here in hopes of a little bit better one.

This guy has a night time sky viewing telescope set up too a sweet little shed made with 8 walls and a roof that slides off on rollers.

Not only that but this guy has rocks, and you guys know how I like rocks.

He shows me a big rock made of sand stone because it is a beach, a section of beach and you can see the sand ripples like on any beach except these are solid rock with sea shells embedded. This is about 3 feet long bu just over 1 foot wide, and maybe 8 inches thick.

This was a salt water beach once, and dug up just a bit north of me not 10 miles and at around 600 feet.

Then he shows me this other smaller geode like rick sawn in half. Looks like agate to me. The gys says lick it. Whell I never licked a rock before, so with out thinking a bit about it I lick the rock on the glass smooth surface and hold it to the light looking for any difference.

Now the guy starts to laugh and I know i been had somehow He trys to tawk and can't! Tears run down over his cheeks and I am gettin mad. This guy just can't get a grip and I stand there wondering so lick that rick again and hold it to the light.

I don't see any changes really, no boobie girl pops out, nuthin. The guy sees me do that and goes right back to laffin and about now I am hopin' he throws his back out and maybe if I get lucky breaks a rib.

I ain;'t that lucky and he finally settles down and say still semi laughing dino haa haa hhaa soar haa haa haa sh*t haa haa haa...

No sh*t Jack!
I claim the spelink errors and the typos except for that *, That part is the nannie....

Best thing about the relay on a separate circuit for your driving lights is you can't accidentally leave them on, if triggered from a switched circuit.

LOL medic, I am just bein' my ol' dumb self. I read what you said and thought of the instant big dumb swede, that old typical sayin'. It doesn't mean a thing. Only reason I explain is your post count, which shows you can't know just how wacky I am, but I remain harmless, mostly.

These other guys are used to my antics and have learned to expect it. I do pretty well detail explaining problems, and so that's likey why they tolerate me at all. Besides I am cute and fuzzy.

DINO chit tastes just like agate!
