Hand guards not gonna help
By the time it got done snowing the drift under the kitchen window was over 7 feet high, and the Nissan was just a memory in the carport. Not a lot of snow on the flat but anywhere there was an obstacle to stop the driving snow, the drifts are amazing. Started to dig out yesterday; it snowed most of the day but the wind finally backed off a bit so it wasn't drifting too much. The snow pile on the south side of the driveway is over 6 feet high and the one in the front of the house is 12 feet high.
![]() ![]() The pic on the left is the back door; there is a 4 foot step under there somewhere. The second one was taken by me standing flat against the house and looking up at the top of the drift under the kitchen window. ![]() This is from the back of the house to the front; there is a skid steer on the other side of the drift moving snow. Got up this morning to -33C, which is -27F. Gotta get the cars started and go to work. I probably won't work today since I work with PVC, in a very old building that has one working heater and it will be about 2 above in the place today. Can't work with plastic if it's too cold. We had a winter were it looked like that two years ago. The snow just kept on falling. I blew snow here until the machines couldn't throw it high enough on the banks. Last year wasn't to bad a year for snow, and this year weve been fortunate so far in avoiding it. We recieved a light dusting last night, less than a 1/4" and thats enough for me.

Agreed. You'll also need tire chains and a ski for the front tire!

It's not good and it's early this year. We usually don't get this storm until late January or early February but at least we might get a white Christmas this year.

Dang, that reminds me of the winters I spent in the upper peninsula of Michigan while I was in the Air Force. Several times I couldn't even see my car in the morning, except for the tip of the radio antenna!
I'm glad I live in Georgia now.

WOW! CycleCat. That's really awesome! What you guys go through in the winter is so alien to someone living in South Louisiana that you could be living on another planet. I salute your fortitude for staying in a place that cold and making life work there. I know we all need to live somewhere but you guys are the real deal. Have a hot chocolate on me!

Boy, I know how you feel for sure! We got enough snow on Saturday to cover the grass.
It's almost all gone now. Never mind.

Snow like that looks really good on TV and in pictures. I am not sure if I could survive living in it though.

Dang, I had some leaves blowing by my door this morning and some rain, with 60 degree temps...brrrr, I was chilly, lol. J/K Cycle Cat. I remember those days back in Ohio when we'd get a big storm. That is why I like Florida.

CycleCat - I thought we got hit hard up here but I guess I'll count my blessings for the time being. Next time we will have a role reversal.
