LED Voltmeter

I am posting this info for those who may be interested.

When I first bought my Yamaha a few years ago, I heard stories of riders stopping for a break out in the boondocks and then not being able to start up again because the battery was dead. So I searched around and found what I think is I think is a really neat, little, and inexpensive device to hopefully eliminate this problem: a Kuryakyn LED voltmeter (Part #4219).

This is now on my Nomad. When the green lights are showing, you're good. When one or more are not showing, you are draining your battery. There is a sensor on the meter that brightens the LEDs in the daytime and dims them at night so they do not distract you. Installation is simple; one wire hooks onto any hot wire and the other to any ground. I fed mine into the headlight bucket. It has an adhesive back that sticks just about anywhere and even if it came loose, it's not going to go anywhere because it's still hooked to the wires. I bought mine at Eastern Performance for $32.95 with free shipping.

This seems like a cheap investment to avoid a big problem.

I've got one of those in black, its a great little device for the money. What brand of tack is that, I can't make out the name.

Some place I read a post a guy had a chrome one but the chrome just peeled off the plastic when he tried to get off the stickers, but good idea merican.

About one more electrical gadget and Trip's gonna have to install a hitch to pull the Auxilary Power Unit.

Official description is: BARON BULLET TACHOMETER FOR 1" HANDLEBAR, WHITE FACE.

I like it because it not only functions good as a tachometer, it also adds another splash of chrome.

I found mine on eBay a few years ago, new for $99. Haven't seen it for that price since. But if you do a google search for "Baron Tachometer", many of the vendors are selling it for $169.99. There is also another version that lets you choose seven different colors for the backlight. These cost more.

Just stock. No risers. The bracket on the Baron's tach is quite thick but there was plenty of room although my picture taking doesn't show that too good.

Doc, The Baron's tach will fit along with Phat11 risers. I did same install few weeks ago. One point to consider on the install; quite a few people in another forum suggested installing on the left side coil. After messing with this for about an hour, I gave up and went to the right side coil. Took about 20 minutes or less. Maybe Kaw changed something for 08 models, but right side was much easier.

This is how I have my faring. My volt meter is on the right just under the bag. Under the left bag is a thermometer. The tach is just to the left of the radio. It is a cheap one I got off ebay for about $30.00.

I like that! Now all you have to do is find one more gauge to the right of your radio to balance things out.
