One of the most popular tires for the Nomad is the Dunlop SP5000 195/60/16. It's close to the same diameter as the stock 170 rear tire. It's also what I have on my bike.
Air pressure is a subjective thing. Generally you start out around 40-42 lbs for the first 500 miles. This is considered the break-in period. Then you start dropping pressure in 2 pound increments until you get the feel and response you want. I am currently at 34 pounds and I think it's fairly close to ideal. As far as the rear shock settings, I haven't tweaked mine at all. If you haven't already done so, I urge you to visit this forum: http://forums.delphiforums.com/DarkSiding/messages You may have to sign up, but it's free. It has a wealth of information for people considering going to the darkside. There are also useful reference materials, like a database of different tires, what tires are right for your bike, and a list of installers.

I run the same tire Cj does, and like 36 psi. Cj lives in AZ where it is hot, while i live in New Hamshire where All Gore will be sending my summer re-bate chack soon.

Most common size for Nomads seems to be 195/60. Some are using 205/60 or 205/65.
Not many choices in 195, lots in 205's. 205's fit but driveshaft clearance is a concern to some. As Scott mentioned, air pressure is totally subjective. You have to experiment to find your "sweet spot." Mac and I are about the same size. He runs 36lb and I was content at 33lb but recently lowered to 29lbs just to check it out. And no high speed wobble Mac. Shock settings are very important and can really change how the bike handles. I would suggest starting in the 20-25lb range and adjust. Check out the "Darkside" forums for lots of information. http://mcdarksiders.forumotion.com http://forums.delphiforums.com/n/mai...ng&nav=message

There is one in NC and I know the here one in Blairsville, GA. The installer database is a very short national list. Check with all the independent installers in your area. You'll find one. Might also check the Darkside forums listed in above post and ask if there is any member in your area.

The place I went to couldn't balance mine, which was okay because I was planning to use Dynabeads anyway. If you find a place willing to do yours, you might add their info to the installer database to help the next guy wanting to take the leap to the darkside.

Idaho and I went one step further and mounted a real man's "Truck" tire on our Nomads. 8 Ply 70lbs. max pressure rating. Over twice the load carrying capacity..
We let the other boyz here mount their puny soft car tires!! ![]() 'A man wants to feel like a man. FEEL LIKE A MAN! Well there's something about an Agua Velva Maaaaaaaaaaaan!!!!!' ![]()

BD; Agua Velva????? Is that the wierd yellow cheeze like substance that comes in 5lb boxes that you can only buy with food stamps???? What do you do with that stuff that makes you feel like a man??? No.... wait.... I don't want to know!
All kidding aside, I am preparing to take the 8 ply light truck tire path myself. Really like the GY triple tread tire but just can't get my arms around the drive shaft clearance issue with the 205/60x16. Don't want to give up any ground clearance with a 195/60 or 195/55 so want a 195/65x16 and the Conti light truck is the only choice i can find that size.
