Kudos to an HD Dealer

Went riding today with a friend who rides an '93 HD Heritage Softail Deluxe Anniversary edition. Beautiful bike; but as many have heard... leaks oil... and is prone to breakdowns.

Well it happened again today. The HD broke-down, we were stuck. Called the closest HD dealer. They came out and trailered the bike to their shop. Worked on it for over 3-hours.

In the meantime; they took us to a restaurant to eat; and picked us back up.

They joked about having a perfectly operable Kawasaki Nomad following the HD trailer to their shop. They said it would have made a great Kawasaki commercial. A few of the mechanics and sales people gathered around my Nomad... all making kind comments about the bike... especially one of the mechanics who said he thought the Nomad was one of his favorite bikes to ride.

Anyway... this dealer and its employees were exceptionally nice and accomodative... and ultimately only charged my friend $100 for the work they did... instead of the $500 they said they could have.

Moral of the story... ride a Kawasaki Nomad

(HD Dealer: Kutter's in Janesville and Monroe, Wisconsin)

Its good to that there are dealers out there that will give you a fair shake, Im sure your pal will remember that gesture when he's ready for another bike.

Yeah, shops tend to be good to their repeat customers.

My club went on a long ride and we had one HD break down and another one wreck. The HD dealership here in McAllen sent and truck and trailer 300 miles to get those bikes and riders. They stand behind their product (they have to - lol). I seriously doubt the Kawa dealer would have done that.

I wonder if they charge extra for that, or is it part of the service they provide.

HOG membership is what many HD owners have; which provides services such as towing... so many times the dealer is able to charge HOG for towing.

In my friend's case, the dealer picked him and his bike up for free... but it wasn't a 300 mile trip either.

The HD dealer in my area is a whole lot better with their customers than the Kawa Dealer. But, I don't get in my Kawa dealer that much. Don't have too.

Well, HD sells one thing and one thing, only, and that's motorcycles made for the street and highway. And they're awful proud of 'em. Some Kawasaki dealers sell crotch rockets, motorcross bikes, ATVs, jet skis, etc... so they got a lot more to worry about and advertise for than HD does. Believe me, the HD owners probably pay for that good service somewhere. I bet it ain't free.
