Cactus Jack...beaded seat

Hi CJ,

I noticed you mentioned a beaded seat in an earlier post. How often do you use it? Do you use it on a stock seat or aftermarket? Does the beaded seat look like it is damaging the "stock" seat at all? Is it the wood or plastic beads?

I have been considering a beaded seat just too give me a little relief after a few hundred miles. Would it be good for relief of monkey butt in all weather or just when it is hot?

If anyone else has a beaded seat feel free to chime in...all opinions appreciated.

Thanks
Schoeney

Wow, that's a lot of questions. It is a wooden beaded seat cover I bought from here: http://www.beadrider.com

I bought it to use during the summer months here, when it's over 100 every day for over 4 months. I have not used it in the cooler months. I use it on my Mustang seat. Yes, it leaves marks on the seat, but they disappeared after I removed it.

What I started doing on long rides is riding without it, then putting it on for awhile, then riding without it, then with it... seems to help.

So, CJ, have you used this on any long trips or just short rides and how do you feel when you are riding? Enquiring minds want to know!

I also have the beaded seat down here for the hot weather. I go back and forth between the beaded seat, sometimes a sheepskin seat cover, and the stock seat when I stop for fuel. Seems to help on the longer rides. Changes the riding position just enough to keep things from getting tired and sore. :)

I've been using the beaded seat covers from the same place as CJ. http://www.beadrider.com/ I've been using them for 4 years now on a Mustang seat. I put them on (both seats) when the temps start getting hot (about the middle of May), and leave them on till the temps start getting to cool (your butt will let you know when it gets too cool). They do leave little dimples on the seat, but they disappear after about 3-4 weeks. The beads are EXTREMELY comfortable, and while your ridding down the road, you can actually feel the cool breeze going under your rump. After ridding for a while, when you stop and get off, your not walking around and pulling your pants loose where they've stuck to your ass. The wife and I both love them.

I use the beaded seat as well. Use it during the hot weather and it sure does help. It really helped when i rode out to Texas last year in July. Keeps ya good and dry.

I have a beaded seat also. Purchased a beaded seat for a car and altered it for the motorcycle. Took about 20 minutes and total cost was $10. I'm cheap. Cheaper than beadrider. Have enough left over to make one for the passenger seat. Really helps on longer rides. I generally leave it on full time during the summer. It is really helpful when it rains. Water may pond on the seat but your butt is above that. You can definately tell there is airflow under your butt when it is cool out.

Me too! Took a 2600 mile trip last year- FL to Ohio and back. Beadrider works great! When you first sit on it after installing, it feels like your sitting on rock bed, but give it a chance, and soon you'll appreciate the "jewels" being cooled..and thus not sticking together. Us old farts need all the comfort we can get. For $30.00 or so, was well worth it.

Is that dimples on your seat or the bikes?

I have a beaded seat cover as well. I got mine from Ron Ayers Motorsports for $19.95. It really does help air circulate under your butt in the hot weather. Of course it doesn't stay on there when the weather cools down.
