Fabricating lowers
I can not answer your question, but unless you are just looking for a project to tinker with, you can by them from a member here named Joe at chucksterscustoms.com for about $38. I bought a different item and was real happy with the price and service, Joe is helpful and real easy to deal with. And I have not seen any post here where any one was throwing rocks at his parts.
Thanks for your time

Fabricating lowers
I don't know why either one wouldn't work if thats what you wanted to use. I d ask to see which plastic has better scratch resistance, and UV ratings. Some plastics scratch very easy when washing, and turn brittle and yellow from being outdoors over time.

Fabricating lowers
Lexan has much better impact resistance then any other plastic that's why it is used for windshields and even bullet resistant windshields it is less brittle the plexiglass

Lexan is the best. You can buy a set from Joe (Chuckster) for $38 or you can make your own. You may have close to the $38 invested if you do though. Plus you have to get a pattern or make one. (I have free patterns avail) Cut out the pattern on the lexan, polish the edges, drill the holes and mount the lowers. I would go with Chucksters.

Fabricating lowers
I made my lowers from Plexiglas.
For $13 dollars, the glass was big enough to make two sets. I posted the pattern on the second page of this thread: http://www.vulcanbagger.com/phpBB3/v...=15741&start=0 |

Fabricating lowers
Lexan is softer than acrylic and, without a coating, will scratch easier than acrylic which is harder but shatters, chips, cracks and discolors easier.
Uncoated Lexan is inexpensive and because of the difference noted is easier to cut with readily available hand tools. So it's a cost issue for the most part. For lowers it's perfect in my book. I have cut lots of sets for different bikes. From my previous post: "Once you have the template, cutting these out of Lexan is inexpensive and easy. Leave the protective plastic cover usually found on both sides of the Lexan sheet, trace your template and cut with jig saw using the low speed and a fine blade. Take your time because heat will melt the cuttings. I even used a mini-hacksaw to cut a few sets. I finish with 400 grit then 600 to give the edges that "professional" look.
