Headlight fuse

On a 2005 1600, the 10amp fuse keeps blowing. seams like a not so big problem but cant find any thing yet. Any ideas.

Id suspect either the wiring has rubbed through and is causing a short, or there are more accessories connected to that circuit and the fuse can't handle the load. Does the fuse pop immediately upon replacement or over a period of riding.

Are your driving lights connected to the headlight circuit, by any chance?

No there are no assy. and no driving lights. The fuse wont blow right away, it will last a day or so.

Then I would start looking for some worn insulation in the wiring harness.

Ok, Just got through looking at wiring harness in the light can, at the switch, under the tank and at the j-box, could not find any noticable wear or cuts, we put it all back together put a new 10amp fuse in it and of course it works, so he is going to see how long till it blows the fuse again. Hopfully it wont. Just in case I know it says the head light relay is at the j-box, is it under the plug at the j-box.

I'll add testament to finding a rubbed-through spot in a wire. That will definitely add a random timing to blowing the fuse.

Check the wiring where it can touch the top of the valve cover on the rear cylinder LH side, this can be a problem area with wires rubbing through. Zip tie it to the frame well just below the fuel tank.

Also pay special attention around the steering neck. The wires come out from under the tank and around the steering neck to the headlight bucket. They can chafe there pretty easily.

Had the same problem last year and found the problem under the seat in the wireing. The bottom of the seat was rubbing on the wires and was shorting out "every once in a while" .
I repaired the wire and put a piece of rubber inner tube under the seat. NO TROUBLE SINCE.

OEM nylock ties have a release tab, if it isn't already too late.. In my case it is far too late.

Ok, He rode the Nomad all weekend and had no problems with the fuse blowing, how does the problem fix its self, unless when we checked the wiring we must have moved the bad spot around somewhere. So I guess its fixed. Thanks for all the replys.
