Nomad Insurance cost

When I moved from Chandler to Mesa (15 miles) 5 years ago, my car insurance went up 15%. When I moved back to Chandler 2 years ago, it went down 20%. It varies by ZIP code.

I know it varys by zip code, but I think that is just a good excuse to rob people. I asked my agent, why my rate hasn't dropped now that the bike is 7 years old. Obviously the replacement value is a lot less now than when it was new. He didn't really have an answer.

I'm with Markel and For my 2001 Nomad and my wifes 1998 Shadow 750 we pay about $480 a year.

That's full coverage with uninsured motorist.

I've used Markel for over ten years now. Never had to make a claim, but I have called a dozen or so times for insurance varifications to be e-mailed to me due to misplacment over the winter.

Interesting to see the differences in rates around the country and Canada

I insure everything through Grange, available only in the Midwest.

MC insurance discounts: 10% for rider training, 10% for AMA membership. Independent agent and he treats me well!

MC $260 yr., travel trailer $160 yr., increased coverage on all vehicles but $500 deductible. Had a claim last year on the trailer, no increase on rates

Getting older has one advantage

P.S.

I did not get medical on myself because I already have health insurance...no reason to pay twice! especially when I pay about $600 a month (my share) for Kaiser.

I pay Progressive $204, full coverage with $500 deductible, on my 06 Nad. One thing that may affect rates in different areas is Uninsured motorists. I pay $41 per year in Northern Virginia. Best friend down in Florida just picked up a 06 Nad like mine and Progressive quoted him $305 just for this one coverage. Turns out Florida ranks 5th in number of uninsured motorists. The top four are New Mexico, Mississippi, Alabama, and Oklahoma. Friend has excellent health insurance so is going to opt out of UMI

I too have Bike-line.com Markel American insurance on my '07 for just about the same price. They have always been lower than Progressive for me, even though house and car both go through Progressive.

Bike-line will give you a quote on line. Worth a try to see if it is lower the you all are paying.

Hi All, I paid my bike insurance today, $1045 (Canadian) full coverage, $1000 deductible.
Same price as last year. Seeing as we can only ride 7 months of the year here in Ontario it is bl^^dy expensive ! I live in the country, dont use it to commute, dont have any claims/tickets, been riding bikes 41 years.

I would think you could get a better price by a couple hundred bucks if you shop around a bit. I know I hate giving my money to them bandits.

Hey Joe (mrfuni) ' I live in Lake Placid and I seem to remember a couple of years ago when I checked with Geico, either Geico didn't want to insure me, or the rate they quoted was too much. How about telling us in detail what coverage you actually have and the premiums for each item. Do you have UM? Progressive quoted me more for UM then my best friend in VA's (mercianbike) total premium for everything. I decided to stay with Progressive, but dropped the UM when I saw the HUGE premium they were asking for it. I have excellent Medical, so decided I didn't need to be paying for some other persons insurance.

I'm surprised AZ isn't on that list. If you get in an accident here, there's a 1 in 3 chance the other motorist has insurance coverage.
