More info on New Nomad/Voyager

I don't remember seeing this write up in all the posts regarding the New 1700's but here is more details on the new models.

I see they are bringing back the fastest 2 tone colors (red/beige) for the Nomad !

The voyager looks like a nomad with a trunk and faring speaking of faring I don't want a bike that the faring doesn't turn with the front wheel because I like my headlight to turn when I turn

Frame mounted fairing is the only way to go! IMHO! Less heavy feel on the front wheel - steering is not effected as bad by cross winds. I have had both and the handlebar mounted
fairing is not as good.

Usually, when you are turning, you are leaning, not actually turning the bars much. Leaning is what really turns the bike. I guess the exception would be if you were going slow.

I had a Connie with a frame mounted faring and headlight. I did not have any issue with the light not pointing where I was going because of the "leaning" mentioned above. It might have been a marginal few degrees off straight ahead in turns, but I couldn't tell it if that was true. Bigger issue was the difficulty, or at least time in removing plastic pieces for maintenance. But you get the better rain protection and temperature protection to counter that. Mid-summer I don't think it is an big deal, but fall and spring I'd love to have a fairing.

But I love my Nomad, so I can't sya it will be a big enough factor to get me to switch.

I would like to know if the cruise could be retro fitted to the 1600 that and the faring is all I miss about my goldwing. But I ride a lot of back roads and a night with no street lights pulling away from a stop sign it is only for a split second that you can't see with frame mounted faring but I have hit pot holes but it could be because I am old and blind. J & P has a new batwing faring that only weights 22 lbs but I don't know if they make it for the nomad yet.

+1. You won't notice the lights don't turn with the handlebars unless you are at very low speed, like a parking lot. I'd take a frame-mounted fairing over a fork-mounted fairing any day of the week. They are more stable and the steering requires less effort.

IMHO
I don't think the lines of the hard bags look as good as the previous models. Haven't seen one up close yet though.
