McCain was flat
I thought that Sarah Palin did a great job last night in her speech before the RNC, but I was disappointed in John McCain's speech. Now I know that Sen. McCain's forte is the TownHall style conversations, and I know he will excell later in the campaign, but I had hoped that he would be more lively tonight.
Obama is a great orator. Granted, being someone who can give a good speech does not necessarily mean that you will make a great decision maker, but Obama's speech was better than McCain's. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

rksaw,
Obama can do a great job as long as he has a typed speech. If he has to think, it's AAAA's and hmmmm's. McCain thinks and talks without skipping a beat. The debates are where we will get the meat and potato's of the candidates.

I thought McCain gave a great speech last night. Obama is an empty suit. He's sharp, handsome, and is a good face for the Democrats, but (to quote a Texas phrase) he's "all hat and no cattle".

I have to agree on the debate thing. I have seen to many of the same speeches up to this point. OBama just talks about how McCain is another 4 years and McCain is all about Nam. I have to admit though the detail in his story really got to me. McCain didn't look like he wanted to be giving the speech though. He strikes me as more of a stop talking and do it guy. I think the election will be decided by the debates I think.

Obama is the Antichrist!
. . . . (I saw this on a bumper sticker and I've been dying for the right situation to use it. This one will suffice.) |

Bill O'Reily drilled him last night and is interviewing Obama this Monday and Tuesday.

What, no Obama supporters here? After seeing how the some of the other threads were going, I thought I'd write something that was a little more "objective". Considering the facts...if you were to listen to the speechs--disregarding your thoughts on rhetoric--side by side, you'd have to admit that McCain is not comfortable using a teleprompter or in large groups, Obama is. McCain's strength is in small groups where he can talk individually directly addressing someone's needs and questions and he will do well in the debates and "townhall meetings". Obama is charismatic in his personality, he loves the spotlight, but struggles with "impromptu" speeches.
I think that McCain had a great platform to use last night, but missed the mark. Diehard Republicans are going to vote Republican. Diehard Democrats will vote Democrat. But John McCain had an opportunity and the words to reach Independants last night, but because he stumbles when in the limelight, it could have turned some off...they may have stopped listening to what he said solely because of how he said it. I know that most "undecided" voters will not make up their minds until the last 10 days of October, but I think last night was a missed opportunity. |

It was once said that it's Cheney running the country, Bush only stands in front of the camera following his advice. Let's assume for a second that there's some truth to it, then I would bet money that the same will happen in a McCain/Palin government. This lady may be a great speaker, but she is way too die-hard right-wing with antiquated views of abstinence etc. She'd play MacCain any way she wanted. Certainly she's no "uniter" and that is what this country really needs. This choice of VP was solely a tactical move, nothing else.
Oh, I can't vote here, sorry, never mind ![]() |

"antiquated views of abstinence"???
Funny how all the animals in the world know how to stop breading when the food source is limited and humans don't "abstain". Damn antiquated animals practicing abstinence!!! Whats in front of every cage at a zoo? A sign hanging stating, "please don't feed the animals". when out in the wild park rangers will advise campers not to feed then animals because they will become accustomed to it and expect it. Don't humans do the same? Isn't thats why there are generations of welfare receipients? Abstinence to me is a disciplinary action by responsible breading creatures on earth. I guess its antiquated to tell the starving people in Ethiopia to stop random out of control breeding. We'll just let good ol starvation to trim the heard huh? Geez...

^^ Might change next year - will probably assume U.S. citizenship, makes life a bit easier. Got to ask the "home boys" in Germany first, though, they have to grant the retention of German citizenship (German constitution does not recognize dual citizenship per-sé, but makes exceptions for the USA, and I would never give up my German passport).

I still wonder if the party told McCain that she would be VP choice because of her connections in the oil industry and her ties to drilling in ANWR? I like her and I like McCain but I am still nervous about the Bush and Cheney people that are in the shadows. Same goes on the other side. They say this will be a historical election but it could be historical for more reasons than black or woman. All eyes are on the US.
