Nomad Riders
Hi. I'm interested in how many folks still ride a Nomad ? If not why did ya give it up. If ya still do, what one is it & Ur milage.
I really like my 2006 Nomad 1600. 40 K plus miles with no issues until this weekend. The famous clutch rod seal. Thanks to this forum I had new seal on hand to install. Took me One hour to clean it up & replace it. I also heard the 06 & up have the similar clutch spring as the mean streak. Is that correct ? Thanks. Ride safe & enjoy Ur travels. I still have a '03 1500 Nomad with 52000 showing. Love the old bike but I ride my '15 Voyager more. The 1700 gives me more leg room seat to floorboards which works better for this knee replacements. I had RDL to raise me up in the seat on the 1700. The 1500 also has a RDL seat.

I'm still riding my 2002, it has well over a 100k on it now but still rides the way it did when I first got it. Last summer I went on a 3000 mile week long trip by myself and the bike never missed a beat. Ive thought about replacing it with another bike the past few years, but other stuff keeps cropping up.

06 bought with 2500 miles, now about 65k miles. Just routine maintenance done by me. I only ride about 500 miles/month average, two up about 25% of the time. No probs. I like the idea of ABS, cruise, linked brakes, more power and the bells and whistles but I do not like the prices. Until I don’t have other priorities, the Nad is it for me.

I have had 2 nomads.
They treated me very well. As I got older, it got to heavy for me. Bought a 2011 Victory Kingpin and haven't looked back.

I had a 2008 Nomad I wanted to upgrade to a bike with a fairing, trunk and electronic cruise control. Nomad had 38,000 miles on it in 2014 when I traded it in on a Victory cross country tour. I love the cross country tour..

Still riding a Nomad. I thought about a Vaquero....when I sit on it, feel too cramped. Voyager....naaaa....doesn't fit me as well as the Nomad. My bike is fixed up just the way I want it. Yes, she's heavy....
Was building a turbo'ed Nomad Trike, someone wanted it and coughed up the bread.... My knees are gonna make me go Trike next few years....so, am gonna be doing a V8/PowerGlide combo in a Nomad frame..... Nomad frame lends itself perfectly....nice and heavy.

Had a 2003 Nomad. Put about 30,000 miles on it over 5 years. Never a problem mechanically.
Wanted more power for passing and merging so I bought a Honda ST1300 Sport Touring bike. Great bike, no problems either but wanted to entice my wife to ride more so I sold the mighty ST and bought a Honda Goldwing. She definitely prefers the Goldwing but is not hooked on riding yet. Hoping a trip I have planned with her this summer gets her hooked. I have done this trip solo previously. Very little traffic, very scenic, relaxed pace and will lower the miles per day. She did not like the 400 mile day that had us racing through no man's land in the dark. I didn't either, I don't mind the miles but I don't like lots of critters crossing the road in the dark. If this trip does not do the trick I will likely buy another Honda ST, BMW 1200RT, BMW K1600 , the new Honda Goldwing or a late model Honda F6B. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

03 Nomad with 40k miles. No issues other than the clutch spring. Yes, a bit heavy but love the look and the ride. Dependable bike so far and will ride it for a few seasons more yet.

Has anyone of our group seen the tilting scooter type frontend on a Nomad yet? That will be another great option to folks that the bike is getting too heavy....
Thoughts?

Loved my 07 Nomad - would still be riding if it wasn't for the 18 yr old kid that pulled out in front of me last May - collision totaled the bike

There was a article last year in Motorcycle Consumer News about the tilting front twin wheels for a Harley. Interesting concept and certainly better than a non-tilting trike. I have ridden all manner of trikes and I can't say I liked any of them. Maybe a leaner if I someday need another wheel.
Guy like you Dragonlady could certainly figure out how to mount a Harley tilt trike kit to a Nomad. Oh hey, did Kawasaki put factory cruise on the later Nomad that could be fitted to a 03 Classic? I've been looking at using parts from a 1200 Voyager. But if the Nomad had a system I could fit to an older Classic I'd consider that option.

Thank y'all for Ur responses. Looks like I'll be happily riding my 2006 1600 Nomad for several more miles. I have not had any noises from cam chain as of yet, but will order the extenders ASAP just in case. Better safe than sorry. I have no trouble with the weight of the Nomad, even with me pushing my late 60's. I found that turning the bars all the way to the right the bike lifts easy off the kick stand. Now if I can figure out how to add updated photo of my bike. Thank y'all for all the info y'all post, this forum & Gadgets info. I'm looking forward to meeting y'all at at this years up coming rallies. Ride safe & enjoy Ur travels.
