MPG's
1700 Vaquero with VH slip ons. Just turned 1500 miles today. The best I've gotten is 33 mpg's. Don't really get on it and shift to 6th when I hit 2500 rpm in 5th. Should I just be more patient ? I have heard these motors turn loose at around 2 k miles. Been averaging 24-26 mpg's buy I filled up today and took a 120 mile trip on the freeway averaging 75mph. Some slower, some faster. Just can't believe this is going to be the final mileage on this bike. The light hadn't come on yet but was below the 1st line. Took on 3.5 gallons after 115 miles. Is this what it

It will get better MPG when you get over 5000 miles on it. Don't lug the engine, wind it up some in each gear. You don't need 6 gear until you hit 70 MPH.

Yes it may improve over time. The best mileage I've gotten out of my 1700 is 34 mpg (Driving like grandma). That being said I average around 30 mpg. I guess I'm not the norm here as everyone else says they are getting upper 30's to mid 40's. Personally I don't get it but whatever. The bike is EPA rated at 36 mpg, so I just chaulk it up to my driving habits. Just kick back and enjoy the bike.

This is correct with Ivan's ecu reprogramming my Vaquero is getting around 40+ now and I can smile over that and, yes, you have to get some break-in miles on these 1700s as they come with very tight tolerances on the new motor. Mine has just a tad under 11,000 miles now and is just beginning to loosen up. I will use 6th gear on flat straights down to about 2100 rpm and it there is a hint of lug, down to 5th. We have many roads out here that we can cruise all day at 70-75 so mine gets in 6th frequently.

I have a 1700 Nomad freedom performance 2in1 Kuryakyn alley cat BAK and cobra fi2000r tuner Hyw get37 mpg running about 80 back roads get up to 42 mpg in some situations I've gotten about 28-30 highway had hills and strong head winds. I have 34000 on mine it's a 2009

Around 20K miles on the 1.5 yoa Vaq. With the Ivanized scoot, the new number for me is 42mpg +/- running 89 non ethanol. *Most* of my riding is 70~71mph in 6th. Previously, I was struggling to average high 38~39's... Ride Safe, Smokier

Dont know yet with my flashed ECU. Doing 220 miles this weekend so we will see. Prior to the flash with the PCV I averaged about 38 - 42 mpg depending on riding conditions. I expect to see better with the flash provided I dont keep goosing the throttle, which is so much fun now.

I consistently get 43-45 mpg with a low of bout 40 mpg runnin at 70+mph into a strong headwind. One Sunday out ridin with my friend Ray I went 251 miles GPS b4 I filled up!
I found out YEARS AGO the mpg display is very inaccurate and I have used a GPS to monitor mileage driven for completely accurate results since. I have also found that HOW you ride influences the accuracy/inaccuracy of the readout. I have achieved good mpg thru proper FI and ignition tuning and it has paid off. My last dyno tuning session absolutely trumps all the 1700's that I have dynoed and/or tuned and that was with 96,000 miles on the odo at that time. At some point in the future my skoot will go back up on the dyno for new baseline runs and the ECU sent to Ivan for comparisons of all sorts! RACNRAY

Mine is 2015 Voyager here in germany.
Mods : K&N Airfilter US-Airduct first baffle removed from stock exhaust. Now 3800 kms ~2360mls on it. Running up 130 Kph ~ 80mls on the highway, normal driving to work, etc. Getting between 39 to 36 mpg since the first tank. Shifting int 6th gear at around 2000rpm. Cu, Sven

Yesterday rode on our first 80 degree day for 140 miles out in the open desert and through some tight twisty bits as well. My mpg went up to about 44 now which is great using 92 octane E-free fuel. I know it wouldn't have been nearly this good before the ecu flash and the motor still runs plenty cool in these temps and smooth as a baby's booty and stumble free.

With: V&H Slip ons; Thunder Mfg intake and PCV I get around 33-35....with the shitty California summer-blend gasoline. I tend to get on it pretty heavy. For me its a pretty even mix of freeway and mountain riding.

RacenRay once told me these skoots are like a barge going down the road with the air they push. The parasitic losses can be low tire pressures and air drag, and the Quality of gas you buy. I run my tire pressures at the upper limit, 51 rear and 42 front. Right now I have a car tire on the rear, and after the tire broke in the fuel mileage went about two miles from where it was prior to the car tire. Its a green rated tire, Yokohama Avid Asend LRR. The LRR stands for Light Rolling Resistance. The front is a Commander II. The gas can be a big influence. I try to buy Shell mid grade or better. This cutrate gas we have in this area may be cheaper but the mpgs are way less. I put a ClearView wind shield, the short one if I remember correctly, my mpgs went up almost 5 miles per gallon. But that may be because of the aerodynamics of the trunk and light bar I installed. I have seen 48.5 solo, and 45 when 2 up @ 65 - 70. The engine is stock, but in a few minutes I'm going to finish Ivanizing my skoot. I have almost 20,000 miles on it now. There are a lot of things you can do to these stallions, but you need to do one thing at a time to see if it will result in a + or - for your fuel mileage. Remember you are working with a balanced system, even as lethargic as it may be.

Snake those are good numbers, especially considering the California gas you're having no choice to run in your bike. Aerodynamics does have quite a bit to do with it for sure. The little things like that make a difference.
