Rural Southern Oklahoma Pick up truck went left of center no explanation why yet . Took out 5 Bikes and 8 more went down trying to avoid the carnage . 1 Dead several injured ! 4 left on Lifeflight ! It has not been a month since a 16 year old new Driver crossed into oncoming and took out 3 Bikes about 20 miles north of here and killed all 3 . PLEASE keep all the Riders & Passengers and Their Familys in Your thoughts and PRAYERS . May They Find Peace and Healing !

Tragic for the riders and their families. The report said that the riders were from the local Moose Lodge and that they did a lot for the community.

Just sad.

Today I had a guy cut 3 lanes of traffic and end up right in front of me. A handful of brake and shift to the center lane to avoid eating his bumper. I just stared at him as I rode past and received his apologetic hand wave in return. "Sorry" doesn't help loved ones deal with their loss.

Bet he was playing with phone or radio. This is why it irritates me so bad to see a phone in 1 hand and steering wheel in another. Prayers for the victoms and thier families.

Vehicles (cars, trucks, motorcycles, planes, etc. etc,) should have cell phone blocks installed so no-one uses one. Nothing is "that" important.

Or hand free. I put my cell phone in the center compartment and use the steering wheel and voice control if I have to call home. I hardly ever use it.

I always thought the cell phone companies could take a more active role in preventing phones from being used in vehicles. Pretty much all phones have GPS these days. I wonder if there could be an OS patch that could disable the phones ability to send/receive phone calls (except to 911) and disable texting once the phone was moving, say 35 mph. There are only 3 base Operating Systems being used (Andriod, IOS, Windows) and all the makers of them have huge resources and could likely develop the patch easily and fairly quickly.

Just a thought...

That is really sad...always someone out there multi-tasking instead of paying attention to the road. The driver responsible now has to live with that mistake forever.

Sorry to hear that.

As brilliant as blocking cellphones in cars or speed based shutoffs sound, lots of folks use phones as passengers and there's nothing wrong with that. My phone stays in my pocket when I'm driving but I certainly use it when sitting as a passenger.

Really sorry to hear of the crash. Wife and I nearly had the same thing last night. Guy turning right after going through an intersection, with plenty of room (small pickup truck, a Ford Ranger), swings WAY wide completely into our lane. Luckily we were able to squeeze by onto the edge of the road (no shoulder). Dunno if he just wasn't paying attention, drunk, or what. And it wasn't even like he entered the turn poorly (like he turned super late), his wheels were barely turned and he was just taking the turn super super wide. I meet 18-wheelers at that intersection all the time and they don't have a problem keeping the lane!
