life in rural New England

up here in northern New England life is somewhat different. We have things you won't find in other places.
Alumni Day Parade; curiously, this features graduating classes of past years getting together in a civic celebration coinciding with class reunions. I guess that up here they are so proud of the fact that they finished high school.
Mud Season; this takes place between winter and spring and can occur more than once in a given time period.
Trail Crossing; this is found where snowmobile trails cross public roads and is evidenced by trace markings of ski scrapes and track rubs. You can also see little tiny "Stop" and "Yield" signs facing away from the road.
Town Meeting Day; this takes place in the spring where towns and even citiies deal with issues citizens are concerned with. My own take on this is that it is a sort of social mixer to get people together after everyone has been shut up in their houses all winter.
