Windsheild Cleaning
Okay this may or may not be the right place to post this question! I had the bright idea to clean my windshield for resale. I thought I could use the same technique as the headlight cleaning. I used 500 grit then 800 grit and then 2000 grit. Only the shield is still foggy even with a good coat of polish. Is there some sort of trick to this or did I screw this up? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You screwed up.
Try the Novus polish system it should clear it up.......maybe. you will need to use #3 first then #2 then #1. The Honda dealers sell it around here, works good.

Sorry I can't offer you any real solution, as you've now discovered that cleaning technique was a bust...
As I see it you really only have 2 options left: 1. Follow the advice already given regarding the Novus polish and attempt to restore the windscreen, and when that fails you can throw it all out and replace the windscreen... Or 2. Cut to the chase early on and replace the windscreen... |

I must be missing something.
Why would anyone use sandpaper on plastic?

Some plastics you can make look better by wet sanding with ever finer grit and then compound. Plastic head lights, gelcoat etc, but perfect optical clarity is not an issue on them as you don't have to look thorough them.

There is NOTHING you can do to fix it now. Save your money on the Novus too. You'll end up spending the dough on the Novus and still have to buy a new screen.
The factory windshields are polycarbonate plastic, finished with a scratch resistant coating. The coating cannot be polished - let alone sanded - and polycarbonate doesn't take polish either. I know all about this because I spent a TON of time, money, and energy trying to "fix" mine. Believe me when I say, just buy a new one. I ended up buying a Cee Bailey's and could not be happier. Check around, you'll find something you like.

Alright, he gets it. He made a mistake... No need to harp on him...
He won't buy a new windhsheild, because he is selling the bike.
