Clutch wont disengage
Well last time I rode my 02 nomad 1500 the clucht started slipping when u get on it hard. And before I could make it home somthing went POP from 2nd to 3rd and then the cluch wont disengage. I can pull as hard as I wont back on the lever and it wont move. You can start it up and feel it kick in to gear from N to 1rst. I undid the line a little and fluid sqiurted out and now the lever will move but nothing there. Still wont disengage. Planning on taking it to the shop but wanted to see what you guys thought. I dont know a hole lot about fixing bike I can fixin anything on a car just not bike smart.

It squirted out while you were pulling the lever or just on it's own? And welcome to the forum.

I would start by removing the slave cylinder and see if the system is working. DO NOT let the lever out fully with the slave cylinder off the bike. Wrap the lever against the grip with some muffler wire or something similar. Then after removing the slave cylinder let the lever loose a small amount to see if the slave moves.
This will tell you whether the problem is with the master/slave or inside the case with the clutch itself. MT

Its either that, or the spring was grooved so much that it wore right through and got jammed up.

Go to Gadgets Fixit sight, theres a link here somewhere, and it will show you whats involved. If its the clutch spring it should only take a couple hours to replace. If its the slave cylinder it too shouldn't be more than a couple hours as well.

If you can fix a car, you can fix the slave cylinder or clutch spring.

Where are you located? There may be some willing soul close that will lend you a hand.
If not, then there are some here who will talk you through it. MT

Agreed as to do it yourself. It looks scarey, but is not difficult, I replaced my clutch last fall with the help of the forum here. Took some time, but next time it needs to be done will be a piece of cake.

Thanks for all the help. Im just going to drop it by the local dealer this week. They said they can fix it for cheaper then I would thought. Whiles its apart I'm just going to have them throw a new clucht in. And while its there im going to have them throw a set of white walls and new front and back bearings. They said should only be $850 out the door as long as no surprizes. So I didnt think that was bad with new tires mounting and balncing, new bearing and a new clucht set up and fluid changes. I will be ready to ride this season cant wait.

Most likely the plates and discs are still good. Its not often that they need replacing.

The New Clutch Spring (1) and (3) Limiter Springs and New Friction Plates (kit) with one new gasket should be about $150 I would have the shop use the Mean Streak Clutch Spring which is heavier made.
New Tires and Mounting not sure what type ur thinking about but my guess take off and mounting about $120. + tires ( $262.) ?? I put on ME 880's 8/2010. So $532 total which is a high max for doing it yourself if you want to spend about 5hours start to finish on the clutch. IF THAT IS THE PROBLEM. Thinking the $850 price covers the above, tax, shipping, and labor. Which you got from shop. >> That sure seems fair to me. $438. about is what the shop will receive (before) they pay for labor, shop expense, taxes, insurances, and yes profit for some type of retirement.
