Turned a wrench on a Harley
Last night, I helped a buddy install a Dobeck TFI on his 2006 Road Glide. We spent 4 hours on a project that I could have done in 20 minutes on a Nomad.
There is no unused space behind the side covers. The frame "backbone" of the RG leaves virtually no room for running wires. It was just plain difficult to work on. Plus, the fuel tank is split into two chambers, with a hose running between nipples on each side of the tank. In order to completely remove the tank, you'd have to remove this hose, which is secured with crimped hose clamps. In other words, you'd have to sacrifice the clamps to get the hose off and remove the tank. There was limited clearance to raise the tank. I was surprised. I figured there would be some working room on a Harley. It turned out to not be the case. We did eventually get it installed, and at 10:00PM, he was in his driveway, revving the thing up to adjust the pots. I'm glad he isn't my neighbor.
