TFI adjusting

Ok, I have had my TFI installed now for about 2 weeks.
My orginal settings were 3, 6, 1, 9.
I got almost no pinging using regular gas. My mpg dropped from 38-40 to around 36.
Also, with the intake mod, I have noticed more engine noise. I assume this is normal. I get a little more sewing machine sound and when I really get on the throttle I hear a clack clack clack sound that I am not use to. Does this all sound normal?
2008 Nomad FI with 18000 miles.
I have changed my settings to 2:45, 3, 1, 9 to try.
