Breakfast at the lake
Yes, we do have lakes in the desert. I met up with my buddy, who rides a Suzuki VL800 and we went for a breakfast ride to Canyon Lake. We met at 07:00 and decided to take the "scenic route" to the lake. Total mileage was 130. The road leading to the lake goes from 1800' to 3200' and then down to 1700' at the lake. The road has tons of twisties, hairpin curves, and two one lane bridges. It was a good test of my new car tire. It handled the road with ease. The only problem was getting stuck behind two guys pulling boats which slowed us down on the way to the lake.
Here's a picture I shot at a rest stop. This was just east of Mesa, AZ: ![]() Here's the view from our table at the Lakeside Bar & Grill at Canyon Lake: ![]() It was already well over 100 degrees by the time we left. That water looked mighty inviting.
