Voyager corbin seat

New corbin dual tour seat for 09 up voyager. Has oval back leather backrest and trunk armrest. Seat is black leather with black vinyl trim. I put the seat on my bike and drove around the block and put it back in the box. The back seat is to confined for my wife. She said no as soon as I put it on. Will sell for $1000.00 shipped to your door.

This sounds familiar indeed..... It is a very long story...(thread link attached below), but I just went through a long 5-month battle with Corbin regarding my Voyager 1700 seat. I ended up keeping the seat, but I had to send it back for a refit of the drivers seat (which came out great), then take the backrest to a local welding shop where they customized the post for the backrest, moving it forward 2". Corbin refuses to do that, even though the lack of passenger room is a well known complaint/concern. I wrote a long letter to the owner, who left me a phone message in return that cut off halfway through it. I never bothered to try calling him back as I heard him say he would not be reimbursing me for the welding work, which I had asked him to do.

As it sits today it is fine, but Corbin should do more to stand behind their products....especially in the area of backrest modification. They should either redesign it to allow for more adjustment, or have a welder on staff to make modifications. It ain't rocket science as any good custom bike or car builder would tell you. They just refuse to make ANY modification to the backrest post location. Knowing what I do about their lack of customer service with regard to that issue, I would not recommend them to anyone looking for an aftermarket seat based on that issue alone. I have attached a few photos of my customized post. Any good welding shop can fix it for you, but it will cost you additional coin...$120.00 in my case. My wife hated it before but, likes it better now....so I guess it was worth it, but it still pisses me off that Corbin is so negligent in that regard.

I needed everything (bucket and backrest) moved forward 2". If the riders seat fits you the way it came....you are probably screwed. Good luck!

Can't you just send it back to Corbin for a refund?

Corbin doesn't take returns. They will modify it for you, but I don't want to move forward. The stock seat had me sitting on the tank. I had a corbin on my concourse and loved it but on the voyager the trunk is just to close. So I decided to give someone a good deal on a new seat with no waiting time( I waited 7 weeks for this one ). Would make a nice seat if your significant other was smaller.

That's another thing that I think is bogus. Corbin....and they tell you this right up front.....won't do return/refunds. They say since every seat is custom made, they can't (read won't) do that. They promise however, to make any modifications needed for it to fit you. You think okay....I can work with that....but when you ask them to modify the backrest post so that your wife or GF can actually fit comfortably back there....oh noooo....they won't do that..... They make ZERO mention of that anywhere in their literature. If they are not willing to do THAT....then they should most definitely offer refunds to those people who find the situation intolerable...period. Their touring seat w/backrest is a two person deal. If it only works for one....then it doesn't work at all. To my thinking, Corbin is really dropping the ball on the issue. They know that passenger space is an issue on those seats and are taking zero steps to resolve it. That is an unacceptable situation for a custom aftermarket seat manufacturer with the market share of Corbin....quite pathetic actually.

I always try not to step on another guy's "for sale" thread, but I'm curious what exactly you are selling. I just went to Corbin's site and priced out the seat and back rest you have listed and it came up to $808 brand new. I didn't run it through to see what they would charge for shipping, but I doubt it's $192.

Do you have any special stitching, studs or any other add-ons that would merit your asking price for a used seat. Regardless of how long you have owned it, it's a used seat to the individual you're selling it to.

My apologies... I did not notice you are including the trunk piece as well. That would constitute a $100 savings plus Corbin's shipping to a forum buyer. I should make sure I read posts completely before I squawk.

Good luck with your sale.

Imo they should be confident enough in their seats that a return is acceptable, but rarely needed.

I love how they give you a couple different trim and stitching patterns and call their seat a custom. No more custom than Mustang or anything else off the shelf.

They did customize my riders seat position (2" forward) based on photos I sent them...so they are willing/able to make those kinds of modifications to custom fit the rider, something Mustang can't do. It's their unwillingness to deal with the issues regarding the backrest positioning that I have problems with.

Yeah I know they will get around to customizing it (to the degree they see fit) if you send it back to them, but when you order it in the first place, it's an off the shelf seat.

If you order the basic leather with black trim, you should be able to return it. Order one with green stitching or something unique, maybe that's a different story. I guarantee the set-up this fella bought came off a shelf with a hundred or more just like it sitting beside it.

I doubt they would carry that much inventory for one model. I bet he works a lot closed to making what gets ordered. It's call JIT or Just In Time manufacturing. That's not to say he doesn't work off of a spec setup, where they all start out the same, but carrying a big inventory is a loser.

Point remains. It's anything, but a custom seat. Especially the set-up Jlhjr bought.
