Vance & Hines Exhaust Leak Help
Since installing the Vance & Hines slip-on dual exhaust I've had an exhaust leak that i cannot get rid of. It leaks on the right side where the muffler meets the head pipe. Already tried 2 new gaskets with no luck. If you look in the pic below, the leak is coming out of the two slots just in front of the clamp. It almost seems like the exhaust air is getting under the gasket inside the pipes and then exiting through these slots. Clamp is very tight with 1/4 in of threads left. Anyone else had this issue?

Are these Vance and Hines Slip Ons or a complete exhaust?

looks like your band clamp has reached its maximum potential, I would put a gasket in or a thicker one if you already have one in there and slide the clamp down toward the bell of the fitting

Band clamp still has 1/4 in of thread left before bottoming out and is tight.

Where would you find a thicker gasket? Also the housing has a tab on it that fits into a slot on the band as shown in pic. If you try to move clamp toward bell then it will not close band evenly around exhaust. I may have to just grind this tab off and use a wider band.

Vance and Hines said this is the first they have heard of this issue. They recommended adding high temp gasket when I installed it. I bought the pipes second hand and even though they only had a few miles on them, warranty was out of the question. I did better and shaved the little alignment tab and bought a 1'' heavy duty exhaust clamp. the extra width of the clamp covered the exposed slots and sealed the exhaust.

Looking at the picture it doesn't look like the muffler is pushed in far enough. I'll have to look at mine and see if it's doing the same thing.

The exhaust can go further in but then the 2 bolts for support bracket won't line up. As of now I have the muffler pushed as forward at it will go and still be able to mount it.

had this issue when i cut slits too long installing a thrush muffler. Advance auto has band/muffler clamps, maybe find a wider version of what you have and throw that on? Thats what fixed mine.
