New guy from Charlotte NC
Hello all!
I just purchased a not so new 2005 Vulcan Nomad 1600 with only 66K miles on it. Well, in the past month and a half it is up to 68.5K The previous owner looked like he took good care of it so I wasn't too worried about the miles. Thought I would join the forum since I have been trying to learn as much as I can on this thing while fixing it and have spend a few hours just lurking here. I've also spent a few hours (or more) over on gadget's page. Wow- I never knew Vulcans had such a following. Little by little I have been trying to breath new life into it while putting some miles on. So far I have loved it. I have spent time replacing all the fluids and put a new mean streak clutch in. I just got bearings in for doing the steering head and seals for the front forks. I put an 18 LED light in the tail (wasn't too impressed) and got an HID for the headlight that I haven't put in yet as well. This winter I might tear into the motor and rebuild it. About me: I have always loved bikes and have owned a street bike (or two) since I was 17. Rode a Honda Magna for years which got me hooked on shaft drive bikes. Then did the sport bike thing for a long time. Back injuries kept me from riding the distances I wanted so I decided to go back to cruisers. I always liked the looks of the Vulcans and the shaft drive and factory hard bags sold me on the Nomad. I'm self employed and own an engine machine shop which keeps me busy. But, also lends itself to fueling my passion for bikes by allowing me to work on them and make anything I might need. I just wanted to say "Thank You" to everyone that has put together a vast amount of knowledge on this forum that helps new Nomad owners like myself! Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Thanks everyone!
BigDave, we ride up in your area quite often. If I had your roads in my backyard I would never get anything done! |
