lowering kits for vulcan nomad 1600
Hello to all,
Does anyone know of any lowering kits for the 1600 Nad? Shorter suspensions? I need about 1 inch more to completely flatfoot my nad when at a stop. Unfortunately growing-up is out of the question since I stopped that 36 yrs ago. I'm 5'-4". ![]() Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Not sure but if you lower anymore than it is...be careful with the corners. It touches down now pretty quickly.
I can't flat foot both my feet and got used to it. vin |

Just one piece of advice FWIW. Don't go to extremes. The PO lowered my 1500 Nomad about 3 inches and I have drug the baffle screws off the bottom of the V&H baggers. I have since raised it back up and the ride is muuuuuuuucccchhhhh better. I have the shocks that he used to lower it if you are interested because I certainly won't ever be using them.

Get these and reaching the ground shouldn't be a problem.

I put 11.5 inch Progressive 440 standard spring shocks on the wife's 1600 Nomad. I fits her good and she is 5' 5". With the shorter shocks she will still drag her floorboards before she drags her pipes. If riding 2 up a lot consider a sightly longer shock so not to drag the pipes. Stock shocks on the 1600 Nomads are 13 inches.

how about getting you seat cut down in the foam and re apholstered? i sat on mine the other day without a seat on it and i found th position quite comfortable (apart from the battery in my ass that is). i am now considering getting another standard seat and altering it this way, it will also be a lot cheaper and safer than lowering the bike. cheers. mc...

I think cutting the seat is also a good way to go, you sould be able to gain some clearance also if you make the seat a bit narrower. that way your legs are not spread quite as far apart. It should make a difference.

Hey Madcow! - I think you should sit on the bike again without the seat on and put a light bulb in your mouth. It would be interesting to see what happens! :) :) :)
