Police chase man on Harley before arrest made

A man who led police on a chase with a stolen Harley-Davidson motorcycle was arrested on charges of felony flight, resisting arrest, possession of stolen property and aggravated DUI, police said Monday.

Jonathan Fragua was transported to the Maricopa County Sheriff Office's Fourth Avenue Jail and booked on multiple felony warrants, including trafficking stolen property, forgery and DUI, police reports said.

Police said Fragua was driving the stolen motorcycle southbound on Val Vista Drive near Baseline Road Saturday night when a motorcycle officer saw him run a red light.

When the officer tried to pull him over, Fragua started to yield but then fled into neighborhoods north of Guadalupe Road near Freestone Park.

A police chase ensued after the officer used the license plate to confirm that the motorcycle was stolen and patrol units began to pursue Fragua.

Police were assisted in the chase by a helicopter from Mesa Air, police reports said.

The helicopter followed Fragua to a cul-de-sac in the 3400 block of East Camino Circle in Mesa where he ran into a home.

Officers broke through the door of the home and told Fragua he was under arrest, police reports said.

Fragua threw punches at police and was Tasered by multiple officers and then handcuffed. He continued to resist arrest after being handcuffed. Fragua's father became involved in the altercation and was hit once by a Taser, police reports said.

Police arrested Fragua at the scene, and he was taken to Banner Gateway Medical Center after complaining of medical problems. After being released from the hospital, Fragua was taken to jail where he was booked on multiple felony warrants, police reports said.

Charges against the father were pending, police reports said.
