Grown Man Wants To Cry

I am beside myself and can't believe what I did tonight. Somebody please toss an arm around me and tell me I'm not the only idiot who has been so unfortunate.

I ordered a set of deep dish amber bezel's for the front signal housings to match the rear that came with the Kuryakyn Run-Turn-Brake kit. Anyways....I replaced the first one no prob. The second OEM lens for whatever reason was tough to get out and I kept working it around until it came loose. When it finally did I heard the tiniest of cracks.

Didn't give it too much thought until I went to push the new one back in. Thats when that little crack became a nice little chip in the top of the signal housing.... :'( :'( :'(....!!!

A small but very noticeable piece of the plastic chrome housing about 1/2" long and 1/8" wide fell right into my hand..... :(" title="" border="0"/> :(" title="" border="0"/> :-[ :'(. All I could do was finish the lens install then super glue the piece back in place, but we all know how that looks..... :( :( :(.

Most people may not notice it, but since I did it and DO know it....it might as well be the wart on the nose of the Wicked Witch of the West!

I ordered my driving lights tonight and they will sit directly above the signal housings. I can't get them on fast enough and hope they kind of camouflage my stupidness. I would have to change the whole housing to fix this one...and I don't want to go there....yet anyways (but probably will).

What a sinking feeling.......ARRRRRGGGGGGGGGG.... :'( Be careful with those things fellas....front AND back... :-/

Bummer Kris,
After all that good work you did on the rails, I'm sure that this was a big let down, but like you said, most won't notice.

I'll make you feel better Kris......

4 days after taking delivery of my new 2005 Nomad, I had it parked in the garage next to a metal desk where I keep all my stuff.

I went to open one of the metal drawers and dug two, 1/2 inch-long scratches into the top of my front fender. Still there today. Have tried painting and buffing it out with no luck. I can't get myself to spend the money for a new fender. So, they yell at me everytime I go into the garage.

Hey you know if you hadn't told us we probably wouldn't have noticed either. From your photos you do damn good work and I am sure that everyone will be so busy looking at the other stuff you have done that they won't see it.

Thanks....but for the money....I'll probably end up replacing it....just cause I'm anal about stuff like that. If you looked....you would notice, as the reflection gives it away at that spot. I'll live with it for a bit....but I'll stare at it until I fix it.... !

Here's a question.....I see in the parts diagram that there appears to be three wires coming from the signal housing. Do these just plug in to something...and if so are the wire plugs located in the headlight bucket or right near the housing itself?

There...There, Everything's gonna be alright Bud...!!!

I dropped an T-handle allen wrench on my tank the first week I had my Nad and put a chip in the Black paint.

The first chip/scratch/etc is the hardest!

They are little "quick disconnects/plugs", and yes, they are in the headlight bucket.
Sorry to hear about your baby, I know you got that "empty gut" feeling when you discovered it. Hope alls well soon.

Thanks guys....I suppose it's an easy enough fix....but VulcanE (BTW, thanks for the explanation on the wiring) is right about that "empty gut" feeling, and just wishing you had the split second back to do over again.....
