I think Winter is here in North Dakota

I'm seriously considering winterizing the Nomad as I think winter is here. Here is a picture out of my front door..the street is about 2 feet deep at this point and we are about 1/2 done with the time frame the weather service said the blizzard will last.

http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...winter-day.jpg

10 below
wind: From N at 33 mph, gusting to 47 mph
Visibility: .03 miles

I'd interpret that temperature/wind speed into wind chill but the southern people would cry and the northern people question their sanity..... it comes out to about 40 below :(.

I'd say I only went for a 20 mile ride today but even I'm not that tough or stupid...looking forward to spring. Think I'll start considering moving further south.

Looks like the worst is missing us down here in SE South Dakota.
Just have cold and high winds. I'm leaving tomorrow AM to drive to Chicago and I am hoping it is warmer there.

Think Spring. . . . . .

I went for a 6 hour ride yesterday in 50's temps. At 10:00 pm, it was still 47 degrees.

Right now it is only 1 degree mid day, and snow.

What a change a day makes.

Jerry,

Would you shut the door!!! Your letting all the cold air get down here. Woke up to about 4 above but the temp just kept dropping all day. Right now it is about 8 below.

Jerry, yep, it's real bad here in NW North Dakota too. We got about 10 inches of snow since yesterday morning, and the temps and wind have been real bad. As I write this, the actual temperature is -24. I don't even discuss windchill, because I hate how they talk it to death on the news. Yeah, it's windy and it's cold, we get it! My grandpa used to say that if they knew how cold it "felt" when he was growing up, they all would have been dead! The Nomad is sleeping peacefully in the garage. At least it'll be a white Christmas!

It is -6 degrees and blowing in north central Iowa this morning. We were planning to start our trip to Washington State this morning, but we may have to wait a day or two before we do that. BnG

Hey Jerry, I'm a hundred miles north of you and we didn't get the snow you did but sure had the winds blow. I was in grand forks on saturday getting some shopping done before the blizzard hit and I saw a guy riding his motorcycle down the street!!! It looked like one of those urals and it had a side car attached, I couldn't believe my eyes at first! Ha!

I'm with prairie cruiser on the wind chill. They talk it to death on the news. It doesn't mean a thing to me. All it is is how cold the temp feels on bare skin. If anyone is out in that weather with bare skin they need a head exam ;)
It is 43 here today, supposed to reach 54 but don't think it will make it. It is raining and getting rid of some of the snow we have. That has to be good
Nomad and Shadow still on life support. Will be able to ride I figure late March if I'm lucky or April for sure.

The Puget Sound region is in the midle of the first run of cold miserable weather of the season. It was 17 at the house this morning when I left for work. We have had two snow falls since Friday with about 5 to 6 inches. High yesterday was 27, high today will be about 25. Might get up to 0 degrees of frost tomorrow with more snow on Wednesday and Thursday.

These fools can't drive in rain or snow. WHP reported about 100 crashed on I-5 between Everett and the border yesterday. Seattle and south had over 200. Ice, ice, ice, every where ice and not a drop of rum to put in it.

Looks like winter to me in ND............Freezing Raining, sleet and a flake of snow here in N/E Arkansas since about 2:00pm today and suppose to continue until 6:00pm tomorrow. I went into Paragould this evening at 4:00 for a DR. appnt. and the highways were clear but I had to stop 4 times and spray de-icer on my windshield, kept freezing over. It'll be fun going to Work tonight @11:00pm..... :-/

Unfortunately Old Man Winter is now awake. I feel sorry for those in the Dakotas, although those in the Northwest don't have it easy this week either.
